ELF Angel Super Glossy Lip Shine Review

This is the first time I am reviewing a ELF lip gloss and even though I have had this gloss for months, I procrastinated writing a post about it because I found nothing proprietary about it and didn’t find myself reaching for it that often.  Finally, I have decided to review it, read on further for more details about this lip shine 🙂

My Take on ELF Angel Super Glossy Lip Shine:

I like ELF because they have good-to-awesome products at extremely affordable prices and the best part is that Walmart or Walgreens always have some or the other offer going on ELF products, so it is all the more lucrative to pick stuff from this brand, but this particular lip gloss was bit of a letdown because it didn’t work so well for me.

Packaging: Plastic tube packaging, nearly my index finger size, with a slant tip nozzle which can be used as an applicator and a twist-up cap to protect. The nozzle has a tiny hole to dispense the product when the tube is squeezed and a generous amount of lip cream comes out which can be slathered on the lips.

Texture: It is creamy and smooth to apply, but a bit too thick, hence it is easy to spread but feels sticky, which gets annoying on a windy day when my hair starts sticking on to the lips. It has a pretty water shine finish which I prefer over cream shine, and it can be paired with a lip liner or a lipstick underneath.

Color: This lip shine is transparent and has no tint or undertones of other color, but it does contain excess of silver glitter which reflects light.

Shimmer and Shine: It has a water shine finish or the sort of shine one gets when the product has liquid consistency with silver shimmer in it. The shimmer in the product is a bit on the higher scale which might be a bit too much for most of us; however, for a party look or a stage appearance, it is perfect as the glitter in it will reflect light and draw more attention to your pretty pouts.

Fragrance: That’s the worst part – it has a horrible “fragrance.” It has an overpowering, artificial floral fragrance which gives me headache and would do the same to a lot of people out there.

Wear Time:  This lip shine has a decent wear time, like most other drugstore lip glosses, about 2 to 3 hours, and then reapplication is needed, but I don’t mind that since that is the case with most of the lip glosses out there.

Pros of ELF Angel Super Glossy Lip Shine:

• Travel-friendly packaging, comes with a slant tip applicator.
• Adds a lot of shimmer and gloss to the lips.
• Transparent in color and hence can be paired with any lip color.
• Many more shades available in this range.
• It is perfect for night-out parties and stage appearances.
• Easy to spread and apply on the lips.
• Gives a pretty water shine to the lips.
• Decent wear time.

Cons of ELF Angel Super Glossy Lip Shine:

• Packaging looks a bit cheap.
• Smells nasty and makes me cringe every time I apply it on my lips.
• It needs to be applied in a thick layer to add the desired to shine to the lips.
• Has to be reapplied after a few hours.

Would I Repurchase ELF Angel Super Glossy Lip Shine?
No, because there is nothing unique about this product and it feels rather cheap and not ‘Elf like’ at all.
