ELF Blush Gems Baked Highlighter Review

Elf is an affordable, nice quality beauty and cosmetics company. Overall the packaging is on the border but the quality and price of the product are quite good. Many makeup gurus swear by its products. Watching You Tube videos compelled me to try my hands on its products. I am happy that my money did not go down the drain. Most of the products turned out to be satisfactory although there were a few disappointments. Here I am reviewing ELF baked highlighter in blushed gems.

Price: $3 (INR 180 approximately).

My Experience with ELF Blush Gems Baked Highlighter:

Packaging:
It comes in a plastic circular container with a transparent lid. The lid is dome shaped same as the product. On top of the lid ‘ELF Baked highlighter’ is printed. The product looks same as all the baked products look like. It is stuck to a black base. The black base has a silver sticker at its back with product code and shade name mentioned. The amount of product is 4gm, which for the price is amazing.

The packaging all in all is sturdy. The lid closes with a ‘click’ sound and would not open if travelling. The product did not separate from its base while travelling. There is one flaw though, the top may break if little bit extra pressure is applied.

Texture:
Like all the baked products, the highlighter is also hard. Looking at the product it appears to have chunky glitters and a lot of shimmer. Well, when I took a swatch there were no visible glitter/shimmer only a nice glow. It transferred evenly and could grab a lot of product in one swatch. Being a hard product I thought this would be difficult.
The product in the pan is textured. Powder is smooth and blendable. There is no spillage on dipping brush into the product. The product is neither powdery nor chalky or dry. It can be used both wet and dry. It is buildable when required.
In the ingredient list it mentions that it has a lot of skin friendly oils but personally I did not find any immediate benefit. This may also be the reason the product is not drying on the skin.

Pigmentation:
It is a rose gold shade with pink undertones. Rose gold shades are very suitable for Indian skin tone. I will not say it gives a subtle glow but it shines brightly when applied dry on high points of the face. If you want to lift up a notch you can use it wet too but it will be totally metallic when used wet. Whatsoever it won’t make you look like a disco ball if used dry. By using it wet, it can serve its purpose as an eye shadow too. There are wet and dry swatches in the photograph. You can see the difference in the glow.
With brush, product will be little difficult to pick up but I think it will prevent you to go overboard.

Staying Power:
Staying power is decent. It will stay put for 5-6 hours when applied dry after which it will start fading. If used as a blush topper it seems to stay till the blush lasts. I used wet it as an eye shadow and it stayed for 8-9 hours. I am sure you guys will work with longevity if you like the product.

Would I Recommend ELF Blush Gems Baked Highlighter?
Yes it is a product worth a try. It is cheap but buying it in India can be costly so ladies if you get a chance to pay “only$3” for a highlighter, please give it a try. It’s a great product.
