USD 1 (I had mentioned in a review of another shade from this range that I had bought a pack of 3 colors – Vixen, Fairy, Bubblegum for $2!!!)

ELF Hypershine Gloss Bubblegum

Directions For Use:

Twist bottom to apply. Apply gloss alone or on top of desired lip color.

My Experience with ELF Hypershine Gloss – Bubblegum:

Out of all the three shades that I own from this range, I love “Vixen” the most! Glosses have suddenly become my new-found love this season! These days, I just use a good lip balm and a gorgeous gloss over it and I am all set! Now, let me get back to the review!

Packaging:  The packaging is exactly like “Stila Lip Glaze.” It is a transparent tube with a white base and transparent cap. Since it is transparent, spotting the color becomes simpler and it is also easy to see the quantity of product left in the tube. It has been suggested on the tube that the bottom of this click pen needs to be twisted 7-10 times before the first application. However, I had to twist in many times (almost 20) for the color to show up on the brush applicator. After the first application, I had to twist it just twice or so to get the product out on the brush. The shade name is mentioned at the bottom of the tube. The packaging is pretty sturdy and travel friendly. The brush feels really soft on the lips. But, I am more comfortable using glosses that come with a wand and a doe-foot applicator. One problem with this kind of packaging is that if I twist the click pen a bit more, a lot of product oozes out on the brush, and there is absolutely no way of putting it back inside. Another problem is that the inside of the cap can at times get a bit messy (as the gloss is a little sticky).

Color/Texture/Smell:  This shade is lovely milky pink. I think it is a great n*de shade, and would look very nice if paired with smokey eyes. All colors in this range are pretty sheer, including this one. On pigmented lips, it looks more like a clear gloss with just one swipe.  Two to three swipes are necessary to build up some color.Thankfully, this one has no shimmer in it! Texture wise, I feel this is a bit thick and a little sticky. It is not something I would wear when my hair is not tied up or the weather is windy!!More the layers of gloss, more the stickiness. It does not feel too heavy on the lips, but I can definitely feel something after I apply this. It does not give a ‘weightless shine’! The smell is a little synthetic; not overpowering or bad though.

Performance:  This is quite glossy, but doesn’t look over-the-top. The staying power is quite good. It stays on for about 5 hours (without meals). Even after 5 hours, or after meals, I can feel the softness of the gloss on my lips. It keeps lips hydrated for a long time.

Cons of ELF Hypershine Gloss – Bubblegum:

  • The twist-up packaging can cause a bit of product wastage.
  • A bit sticky and thick.
  • Feels slightly heavy on the lips.
  • Shade might look a bit pale on pigmented lips, unless 2-3 layers are applied.
  • Contains parabens.

IMBB Rating:

3/5

Verdict:

This is not a must have and I won’t be buying this again, but you can definitely give this a try and add it to your collection. There is nothing much to lose if the shade does not suit you, as it is so inexpensive any way.
