ELF Little Black Beauty Book – Night Edition Review

ELF Little Black Beauty Book – Night Edition Review

Hey!

I didn’t get the time to write for the past few days, because of my exams (which are still going on), but I got a little free time, so I thought of doing a review on something that I used quite a few times these past few weeks. This is the ELF Little Black Beauty Book Eye Edition, in the Limited Edition – Night Edition, which is a palette of 48 eyeshadow shades, designed especially to be worn during the evenings. Let’s see how it fared.

Ingredients:

Talc, Mica, Zinc Stearate, Kaolin, Paraffinium Liquidum(Mineral Oil), Petrolatum, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Methylparaben, Propylparaben. May Contain: Iron Oxides (CI 77491 , CI 77492 , CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Yellow No.5 Lake (CI 19140), Red No.40 Lake (CI 16035), Ultramarine Violet (CI 77077), Blue No.1 Lake (CI 42090).

Packaging:

It comes in a small cardboard book-like packaging, with 48 shades, a mirror and a dual-ended applicator. The “book” closes nicely because of some magnetic material in the edges. The packaging is pretty small, and I like that it can be carried in you purse very easily if you want to, but given the book closes upon itself, there is some fall-out from the shades on one side to the shades on the other side. The mirror is okay, and the applicator is useless, they could have done without it.

My Take on ELF Little Black Beauty Book – Night Edition:

So, the palette comes with 48 different shades. When I was checking out their website, the “Limited Edition” written on the top caught my eye (although I don’t think it is, since I see it every time!), and I checked out this particular palette, and the shades looked gorgeous. It contains every color possible in the rainbow! Also, it has shadows of different finishes like, matte, satin, frost and shimmer.

ELF Little Black Beauty Book – Night Edition 3

First and foremost, the best part that I liked was the presence of many bronze and brown shades in addition to all the other rainbow colors, because when creating a look, you just need it the most. Also, this makes this palette useful even for a day-to-day basis.
Secondly, even though the palette contains a huge array of shades, the quality is clearly not compromised. Agreed that some of the colors are really light and can barely be seen, but some of the colors are gorgeous and very pigmented! The ones with satin-shimmer finish were the most pigmented, and the matte shades were the least pigmented.

As for staying power, they stayed on my eyelids with a primer for more than 6 hours, after which the look started to fade somewhat, but my eyelids are super oily, and no shadow stays on it for too long, with the exception of cream shadows, so I was impressed. Some of the shades do have a fallout problem, and so I would advise using concealer after you have applied the shadow.

Earlier, the Little Black books used to come with lip glosses, which I found to be pretty useless since a lot of the shades wouldn’t suit many people, but I really like this eye palette. Add to that the amazing price, and it’s a steal!
