ELF Mad for Matte Palette Review

By Kajol Dave

Hi guys,

I am back with yet another review. I am a fan of the brand E.L.F (eyes face lips) but the issue is that we do not get it in India at all. I ordered one of the bestselling items from the ELF website and I have a different review. A lot of YouTube beauty gurus raved about this matte palette but I am not too happy with it. I like some things about it but I have some bad things to say too. Read on to know my views on the Mad for Matte palette.

Packaging: ELF has come out with a lot of different prism palettes which are quite famous. Their prism palettes have a total of 5 shades which are also of 10 dollars. They also have palettes which look exactly like the prism ones out of which one of them is this completely matte palette. I love the packaging. It is sleek and travel friendly. There is a big mirror plus it is quite thin which is amazing. It easily slides into my purse and the quantity of the shades is quite a lot. I am a fan of the packaging and I am definitely going to pick up the other palettes in this line to try them out.

My Experience with ELF Mad for Matte Palette:

The drugstore doesn’t have many good and all-matte palettes. When I came across this one, I fell in love with the neutral shades and the packaging. Plus it is raved about a lot all across YouTube and on the ELF website too. I have been playing around with this palette from the past few days and I have mixed feelings so far. All the 10 shades are flattering but the texture is not quite soft. They are a little chalky and not creamy. I love the texture of the MUA palettes! They are fabulous. But this one didn’t impress me when it came to the texture. The texture is still okay but the pigmentation!!!! The lighter shades in the palette are not good enough. They are not very pigmented which I hate because there is a light brown shade which is perfect to warm up the crease. You have to really dig in your brush to get it to show up on the eyes.

The darker shades are good. Other than this, the colours stayed on my oily eyelids for 4 hours without a primer which is incredible. The good thing is that I see no paraben in the ingredient list. Another good thing is that all the shades are pure matte and neutral. They are useful for everyday looks as well as dramatic looks (without shimmer). The dark brown shades can be used for contouring! Plus, it is travel friendly and the quality is not bad at all.

My major complaint is the pigmentation of the lighter shades that’s all. It is kind of expensive for the price because I might just use 4 to 5 shades in this palette. Overall, I was expecting way too much from this but meh, I’ll continue using it!

Pros of ELF Mad for Matte Palette:

• Travel friendly.
• Sleek packaging.
• Big mirror.
• Good quality.
• No paraben.
• Matte neutral shades.
• Good quantity.
• Darker shades are great.
• Stayed for 4 hours without primer.

Cons of ELF Mad for Matte Palette:

• Lighter shades have hardly any pigmentation.
• The texture is not very creamy.
• Is kind of expensive for drugstore.
• Little chalky.
