Epilator Suggestions for a Busy Mom: Ask IMBB

Ask IMBB Gang

Angela asks:

Hey guys!!

I have a 7 month old baby girl at home and so I can hardly find time to go wax at a beauty parlour, let alone getting my eyebrows done. I am right now considering buying an epilator as the best solution but so confused about which one to buy! Have already checked out couple of reviews here on IMBB as well but I’m still contemplating as on which one is cost effective. Points I am considering are – should not be too costly, only epilator function is okay, cordless better, shape should be handy, motor should not be too slow/draggy, cleaning should be easy. Any suggestions?

  1. Braun silk epil 7.. m a mom of 3 year old.. have been using it since 2. 5 yrs and havnt got waxing done since then in any parts of the body.. epilator does the whole job with its different parts.. i only go to parlour to get my eyebrows done.. that means my total parlour bill for a month is just 100 bucks.. !! *happydance* *happydance*

  2. Angela, there are beauticians who offer home services.. You would have them in your city too. U can try them.
thats what i do since my dauther is born.

    no suggestions/experience on epilator though.

  3. I did the same thing when my daughter was 6 months old and have never had to go back to the parlour for waxing. I got Brawn, 7 series. It is expensive for sure, but can pull out hair as small as .5 mm and is cordless, low noise. Can also be used in the shower, no issues with using soap and water and getting it wet. The battery is quite good, lasts about 40 minutes. It has a light on it too, so you can epilate in the dark too.. I ve used it in darkness while my baby slept! :). This is important, because the only time moms get some time to epilate is when the baby sleeps and you dont want the lights to wake up the baby.

The biggest positive you have with Brawn 7 series is that you dont have to go over and over the same patch of skin.. Just one slow and steady attempt is enough.
    Hope this helps!

  4. I swear by Philips ! Buy the one with ice-pack! Its awesome. Have been using it since 4 years now! Tho i use it in emergencies when i can’t visit the parlor. But nevertheless it works fine and painless too!

  5. I think the epilator is one thing you should really invest in because you are going to use it a lot and for a long time too. I am using one since 3 years, and it is still working as new. I got one from philips satinelle with ice pack and dual attachment, which is a really good option coz sometimes you are just not in a mood to bear the pain from epilator and still want the hairless feelings, that’s when the trimmer comes in. Trust me, You want to get one with dual attachment. I would really prefer braun silk epi wet n dry epilator which is cordless, can be used on wet skin while in shower which makes things way easier and it can also be used on face. its costly but its one time long run investment.

  7. Hey angela..i have been using epilators from last 12-13 years and i have used braun, panasonic and philips… But imo braun makes the best epilators. Other brands may highlight different features and attachment, but their epilation function is not that great. Most of the braun epilators come with an aditional shaver head, which is pretty good. U can choose any of the braun ones from series 5 and series 7. I prefer corded ones coz cordless battery doesnt give much juice after 2-3 years..just like mobile battery.
Also keep in mind to epilate frequently, if u give too much gap between the sessions, it pains a lot.
    Hope this helps.

  8. Hi dear….I read all of the above messages and i think SD gave a good answer…there are lots of parlous give home beauty services in the city….and there are lots of girls also who provide beauty services in the home only….you know they don`t give bad service but they take less amount of money than any parlor…yeah it`s true..actually they do give only home beauty services…you can easily find them…may be some of your friends or relatives take such beauty services at home..ask some of your friends and get their contacts..

    1. Yes we can..and regular use also reduces discolouration; although it will hurt a lot for the first time. after first time, keep epilating frequently and you will see the smooth results

  9. Try Panasonic ES-WD51-P. I have been using it since a year. Epilating has become easy and less painful with it.
