My Experience with Essence 24 I Feel Gritty! Nail Art Sparkle Sand Top Coat:

Let’s start with the packaging. I really like the packaging of this cute nail paint. It comes in a clear cylindrical bottle with some product details at its back and the brand name along with the product name mentioned in black fonts. This bottle has a metallic silver screw on cap. I love the mirror finish of the cap. I like the packaging so much; it is tiny and leak-proof. The applicator is of good quality.

The bristles are dense and spread well. Overall, the packaging is good. Essence has also launched gritty nail paints with so many colour options. My pick is a topcoat from their sand nail paint collection. This top coat is actually transparent with so many gritty particles suspended in it along with the silver glitter particles. They are so dense and mixed finely into the solution. Basically, I was searching for a gritty topcoat, but without the shimmer effect. This nail paint has shimmers in it.

Though it looks nice on the nails and does not look chunky, it still does not give that desired effect that I was expecting. I am complaining about this as the product’s tagline itself says, “sparkle sand coat”. So, it is totally the matter of personal choice. The glitter does not look over the top. The product says that it can be used on any Essence nail polish, but I have used it on my Maybelline nail paints and it works pretty fine on them too.

It is a clear sand topcoat, which can be topped with any shade of nail paint. The texture of the nail paint is good; it is neither too thick nor too runny. Its consistency is just right to work with. It gives a slightly gritty effect in a single coat. I prefer to apply 2-3 coats to get that perfect gritty finish. It looks lovely on pastel and lighter shades but it gives some whitish effect on deeper colours. It gives more gradient on the deeper colour as you may check my NOTD for reference. So, the finish is lovely and I like the grittiness in the nail paint.

The topcoat has a typical nail polish smell which is hardly noticeable. So, it will not bother people with sensitive noses. It feels heavy or thick during application but it spreads evenly very well. It takes around one minute to dry two coats of the nail paint completely. It dries quickly without interfering with the finish of the nail polish underneath.

As it gives a gritty texture, the finish is definitely not even. It has some bumpy appearance. The lasting power of this topcoat is amazing. It really made my nail polish last longer. My nail paint lasted for approx 5 days without any chipping or fading. The colour does not lose its intensity. Overall, I really like this nail polish but I wish it came with just the sand effect and not the glitter effect.
