I believe that an eyeliner should definitely be a part of a girl’s makeup kit. Eyeliner completes your eye makeup and defines your eyes. After seeing Rati Di’s various eye makeup looks, I have been tempted to experiment and try out different styles with an eyeliner. However, I have wobbly hands and hence, have always shied away from using one. I had heard that felt tip eyeliner pens come in handy in such cases and make things easier. Hence, when I came across this Essence Deep Black Superfine Eyeliner Pen at an affordable price, I decided to give it a go. Did it fulfil my expectations? Read on and find out.

My Experience with Essence Deep Black Superfine Eyeliner Pen:

Packaging wise, this product looks quite ordinary. The eyeliner pen looks like a pen with a black coloured body. The felt tip is quite thin and fine, which makes it easy to draw thin and precise lines. The cap fits well and does not come off easily. Overall, the packaging is quite sturdy.

The colour payoff is quite good. The first time I used it, I was really impressed by the intense black colour that I got with just one swipe. However, the second time around, the tip became a little dry and I had to hold the pen sideways in order to draw a nice wing. Later, I tried placing the pen upside down, but that did not prove to be much useful, either. I thought, maybe I was not using it the right way. But, when I read reviews about this product online, I realized that I was not alone and that other people were facing similar problems.

In the end, I somehow managed to draw a wing, but it required some effort. The eyeliner dries up quickly on my eyes, in a matter of a few seconds. It doesn’t smudge on my super oily lids when I apply a base (read concealer plus compact). I still have not been able to manage enough courage to use it without a base. However, this morning when I applied it, it smudged a little. I think the reason could be that I did not allow it to dry up fully. I was interrupted by a phone call and I ran to attend it.

The staying power is what impressed me. The eyeliner stays on my eyelids throughout the day, unless I rub my eyelids or it rains. Yes, that’s the sad part. This eyeliner is not water proof. Hence, please avoid using this eyeliner on rainy days. The eyeliner does not come off easily and needs to be removed with a good eye makeup remover or baby oil.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Essence Deep Black Superfine Eyeliner Pen?

At this price, I would recommend it to beginners who are looking out for an affordable and good quality felt tip eyeliner. However, if you are looking for a good water proof eyeliner, you must skip this. There are better options available in the market. I would like to look at other eyeliners from this brand as I have heard good things about them.
