Essence Extra Long Lasting Eyeliner Pen Review

Essence Extra Long Lasting Eyeliner Pen

An eyeliner pen is always permanent in my vanity, as although there are many options available from gel liner to pencil liner but nothing can beat the good old liquid liner when it comes to drawing super fine lines or winged eyeliner. And I personally am more comfortable with liquid liner over the other types and prefer pen types to the pot ones as they are not at all messy and easy to carry. Before this one I was a loyal user for Maybelline hyper sharp liner, and loved it to core but for a change went for this one. This was the probably the first essence product I had bought months back, but I never reviewed it as in the beginning I was quite disappointed.

My Experience with Essence Extra Long Lasting Eyeliner Pen:

The pen is very sleek and handy; it comes in a simple shiny black packaging with everything written on it in silver. It looks very identical to a maker pen, also the tip looks similar. The cap fits properly and does not come off easily, so one can easily carry it around. The tip is a felt tip it is long and medium thin, it is not very super fine but not too thick as well. It is only available in one shade black. The first time when I used it, there was very sheer color pay off and it also did not look jet black. But then after a few days I kept it upside down for 5 minutes and voila, after that it is working amazingly. So if you face a similar problem try keeping it upside down.

The color is black, not a jet black but comes close in a single swipe itself, with two swipes it comes off as a jet black color. It is very pigmented; you do not need to go over and over again. The consistency is thin, but quite pigmented. It looks very natural and does not look like you have applied a thick layer of liner. The tip is good and it does not bleed at all, it gives quite good control to draw lines and therefore very much suitable for beginners and people with shaky hands. But the tip is not super fine like the hyper sharp one, and is slightly on the thicker side, so if you like drawing very thin lines then this is not for you, but I guess they have other options as well. As the tip is quite pointed you can always make it work, I personally like the look of thick liner so it works fine for me.

When applied it looks glossy, but once set it dries to a semi matte finish and has a nice sheen. It dries within 10 seconds flat, so the application is not at all messy. It does not smudge very easily, and stays in place for long. But it is not at all waterproof, not even water resistant, once in contact with water it comes off immediately, it is not much of a problem as majority of liquid liner are non waterproof. It stays for a good 8 hours on my oily eyelids, after which it starts fading mostly from edges and thus it sticks to its claim for being long lasting. It has never caused any stinging or irritation on me. In all it is quite a good product for the price, and mine is going to get over soon, but this one lasted me for long time. I think next I will try their pot one or stick to Maybelline.

Cons of Essence Extra Long Lasting Eyeliner Pen:

• Not at all waterproof
• Not the darkest shade of black in single swipe
• The tip is not superfine
• Sometimes it has to be kept inverted, but that happens with all liner pens

Do I recommend Essence Extra Long Lasting Eyeliner Pen?

I surely recommend it to everyone; it is pretty decent and stays for long. But with so many options out there in the market, I would not stick to this one and try to experiment with others as well.
