I actually picked this up quite sometime ago because at the time I was looking for a affordable lip tint and the Essence sales girl, recommended this to me. I’ve been using it for the past 3 months now and I’m ready for a take on this.

My Take On Essence Gel Tint in 03 Flashy Apricot:

It says it’s a gel however it doesn’t have a gel texture nor is it sticky like most lip glosses are but it’s almost like water. It’s not firm at all nor runny. It comes with a sponge-tip applicator and the applicator doesn’t pick up excess product.

It’s easy to spread on the lips and blend into the lips well without much effort. It’s hydrating and doesn’t dry my lips out but if you’ve got flakey or cracked lips, sadly this will actually make it more obvious. But if you’ve exfoliated your lips, this will go on smoothly.

It actually gives a very natural finish and with this color, it looks like my lips but better. It’s lightweight on the lips and the color appears well even with one coat as it’s very pigmented. Plus, you can’t go wrong with this shade as it’s not too red nor too coral and it won’t wash you out. One of the top concerns when we buy a lip product is that it’s not long-lasting enough and certain tints don’t last long either but this doesn’t disappoint. It stays on all day long, whether rain or shine. It’s waterproof and doesn’t come off even when you’re eating or drinking. It lasts me the whole day and only comes off when I remove it with a remover.

This does contain a fruity fragrance and it’s not too strong. It will actually disappear after application but I’m sorry to those whom dislike fragranced products and sadly this does settle into fine lines. I’d actually recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a long-lasting lip product, suitable for everyday wear and will give you just a hint of color but nothing too crazy. It’s inexpensive and one small tube will last you longer than you think. Packaging wise, it’s small, slim and doesn’t take up much space which makes it ideal as a makeup bag item. It cap is a twist-to-open cap and it’s tight and sturdy, mess-free.
