Essence Silky Touch Blush in Sweetheart Review

Hey girls,

I kind of have this love-hate relationship with Essence products. I love some and I hate some, but they are a really affordable drugstore makeup brand, so I guess you get what you pay for.  I have got another Essence product here and it’s the Silky Touch Blush.

My Take on Essence Silky Touch Blush in Sweetheart:

Blushes are usually the product that provides color for your cheeks and this powder blush is no different. Whenever we buy blushes, we tend to have a problem because there are so many shades to choose from, there are matte blushes and also shimmery ones. Sometimes, we tend to pick out a shade too light or too dark.

This blush is a light, baby pink shade with small specks of glitter in it. The glitter isn’t very obvious on the cheeks after application, so you don’t have to worry about looking like a disco ball.  The pigmentation on this product is very sheer on the cheeks, but the color is buildable.

I find that if you are going for a natural or no-makeup look, this blush would be perfect as it will give you that super subtle, natural flush on the cheeks. This blush can also be used as a subtle highlighter. It gives your face a very healthy and fresh look without looking cakey.

Essence wasn’t kidding when they said that they added the words “silky touch” in the name of the product. The blush has a silky, smooth texture and goes on the skin very easily. It’s not drying on the skin and feels very lightweight. It’s almost like it’s barely even on your cheeks.

However, the staying power is a disappointment. It doesn’t stay on your cheeks long without a primer.  It will fade throughout the day and that is not something anyone wants in a blush. It’s not sweat resistant either, so it will come off if you are in the gym or out about in the sun, but it stays all day long with a primer.

There’s no fragrance at all, but this blush will make your dry patches very noticeable as I had used this when I was having dry patches, but thank God, they are all gone. Luckily, it doesn’t clog pores and is easy to blend.

This blush would be great to layer on top of the blusher that I’ve shown you in my first DIY. This Essence blush will stay on all day long because the blush from my DIY has primer in it which makes it long lasting and by layering it, it’ll also receive the benefit of the long lasting effect. This Essence blush also really compliments the DIY blush and I honestly think that it’ll compliment any other blush too because it’ll just add that extra glow.

The packaging is great for travelling and throwing in your makeup bag because it’s tiny, slim, compact and it will only take up tad bit of space. The lid on this is also super sturdy, so it won’t break apart. However, I would recommend to be careful where you place this blush as I had the experience of shattering my blushes and eye shadows by dropping them and you don’t want that to happen.
