Essence is an Italian company. One of my previous articles was on Kiko cosmetics, which is also Italian company. I think Italy has a history of making good quality makeup products at an affordable price. I came to know about Essence through YouTube. I checked Ulta’s website which had almost entire range of Essence products. Many YouTube makeup gurus gave a very positive response about the products, so I decided to get my hands on them.
Here, I am reviewing two eye shadows ‘Stage beauty’ and ‘Fabulous’.
Packaging:
Packaging is quite sturdy. Body is totally transparent. On top of the lid, the name of the company is written. The total amount of product is 1.5 gm. I will consider this much product as less but looking at the price I am at no loss.
The plastic lid packaging has some strength and is not a fragile cover. It closes with a click securing the inside safely. Although the container was secure, still when I carry the product in my purse the eye shadow separated from its base and started moving inside the container itself. Hence product has to be handled delicately.
Price:
$2.99 (INR 180 approximately)
Texture:
It is quite a shimmery eye shadow. These shimmer/glitter particles show on your skin when dry. It can be built up easily as it is baked.
When used wet, it shows up as a brilliant metallic finish and is build-able too. The texture is quite smooth. The eye shadow is bit hard. There may be a tad bit fall out because of the shimmer/glitter chunks. This problem is solved if you use it wet. These eye shadows are blend-able and transfer on skin evenly.
Pigmentation:
The color is quite pigmented and can be deepened easily. The only drawback comes out to be the glitter particles.
First color (Stage Beauty) is a gold colour with copper and fawn swirls. When swatched, it comes out to be a copper gold shade. It is a very pretty all over lid color for Indian skin tone.
Stage Beauty:
Second color ‘Fabulous’ is a dark brown color with gold swirls in it. When the swatch is taken, a metallic dark brown shade comes out. It looks very pretty as well. Both the colors when wet give a very metallic finish with the least amount of glitters.
Fabulous
Staying power:
The eye shadow without a primer stayed on my eyelids for about 4-5 hours. After that, it started fading. First, the shiny part disappeared and the then the color. Wearing a primer definitely increase the longevity of the eye shadow. Even layering up these eye shadows will help. I tried this with makeup setting spray and it helped a lot. For this price, you cannot ask for more.
Pros of Essence Stage Beauty and Fabulous Color & Shine Eyeshadow

- Pigmentation is great
- Staying power is average but I still give it a thumbs up
- Texture is quite comparable to costly eye shadows
Cons of Essence Stage Beauty and Fabulous Color & Shine Eyeshadow:
- Annoying glitter particles

IMBB rating:
3.5/5
Would I recommend Essence Stage Beauty and Fabulous Color & Shine Eyeshadow?
Yes I will. Reaching out for these types of product will definitely not break the bank. This rating is 3.5 because of glitter fall out and packaging. Other than these reasons, it’s a great product. Please try if possible and share your thoughts. 🙂
