Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme Review

Hello lovely ladies,

After a lot of procrastination, I’m here with a skin care product review. Honestly, I invariably avoid skin care reviews. Makeup is so much more fun!  In the last year-and-a-half, I kind of re-looked my entire skin care regime and started investing in skin care (apart from makeup). Since I am on the wrong side of 30, the first (or maybe second and third!!) signs of ageing are creeping up. So, paying attention to skin care was inevitable. However, I really wish I had come to the party a little early and strengthened my skin care regime, say, 6 years back! Anyways, in the last year-and-a-half, I tried a number of products – a lot of them I managed to finish (YAY!!) before repurchasing or trying out new stuff. I will be reviewing a few of them in the next few days…stay tuned!

My Experience with Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme:

A quick brief on my facial skin – my face is combination to oily and I struggle with acne issues which leave behind scars. Also, age spots have started to become visible. Lastly, my skin can get dehydrated and dull very easily, which may well be a reflection of my eating habits and my sleep pattern, let’s not get into that!
Packaging

One of the first products that I invested in was Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum. While picking that, I also picked up this face cream. For a long time, I was actually using only a serum on my face thinking it is sufficient moisturization considering that I anyway have oily skin! Big mistake! Our skin needs moisturization – irrespective of what out skin type is. The only thing which is likely to change is the type of moisturizer – light cream, heavy cream, gel based, oil-free, etc.
Moisturizer jar

The cream is meant for normal to combination skin. I apply it in the morning post applying my serum. This is a light cream moisturizer with broad spectrum sunscreen protection of SPF 15. Yes, that may not be sufficient sun protection. However, this is not meant to be a sunscreen. It’s meant to be a moisturizer with an additional benefit of a little sun protection.
Estee Lauder daytime moisturizer

It’s lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin, does not leave any residue onto the facial skin or the hands. It’s extremely rich in antioxidants and works well to keep the skin hydrated and protected from environmental damages.

The cream has a light green colour but it goes on transparent. Just because it has a light green tint, it does not mean that it is offering any colour correction.
Moisturizer

The product is fragranced. So, if you are sensitive to fragrances, please stop right here! As for me, I kind of enjoy the lovely fragrance it has, which smells of freshly cut grass or something and does not linger for long.

I seriously like this moisturizer. It’s not something with a lot of treatment or anti-ageing properties. It’s something which is basic clubbed with a bit of sun protection and loads of antioxidants. I think it has worked really well for me. I felt the overall quality of my skin improving over a period of time. It brought back the radiance and evened out the skin tone though it didn’t have much effect on pigmentation or fine lines. I was so comfortable with it that I even repurchased and finished up the second pot too.
Swatch on hands

However, the second time around, a couple of things dawned on me. While the cream works very well, I felt that the effect of it would start to reduce as time went on. Meaning? When I started using it, for the first month or so, the product worked fine – I had used up about 2/3rd of my pot. However, the last 1/3rd of the pot did not seem to give me the same result as the earlier part. There could be two reasons for it – one, my skin got used to the ingredients and I wouldn’t see as much change. Two, which I feel may be the actual culprit, is the jar packaging. With constant opening and closing of the jar through the month, the antioxidants present in the cream would have broken down, reducing their efficacy over time. Needless to say, once you are through with 60-70% of the pot, the rest pretty much acts as a simple moisturizer, which is an absolute bummer because I really did like the product and a revamp in packaging could just so easily change that.

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme:

  • Lightweight texture.
  • Gets absorbed easily.
  • Skin feels hydrated, soft and supple.
  • Spreads easily.
  • Did not break me out.
  • Pleasant fragrance.
  • Broad spectrum SPF 15 sun protection.
  • Rich in antioxidants.
  • Non-comedogenic.
  • Dermatologist tested.
  • Helps improve skin texture and radiance.

Cons of Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme:

  • Fragrance could be an issue for people allergic to it.
  • Tub packaging!! If Estee Lauder could re-work the packaging, this is an excellent product!

IMBB Rating:
3.8/5

This is a really good daytime moisturizer and could benefit from a pump bottle or tube packaging. It works well and delivers on its promised. However, at this price point, it does not make sense to allow 1/3rd of your product to go waste.
