Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick – Wildly Pink Review

Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick – Wildly Pink Review

I am back with another Estee Lauder product – I do love this brand! I had wanted to do write about Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Long Lasting lipstick Wildly Pink and started writing about it, but somehow ended up writing about the Estee Lauder palette instead because the palette was the reason I picked this lipstick.

That’s my problem – every product I pick invariably has a story attached to it and I can hardly write chapter 3 before chapter 2, right?

For anyone who has read my previous article knows that I fell in love with EL (Estee Lauder) lipsticks after trying their travel exclusive palette and instead of trying other colours in the range, the first thing I did was to buy the 2 colours which attracted me the most in the palette – Wildly Pink and Coral Fantasy (reviewed earlier by Rati).

Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick - Wildly Pink 2

For me, Estee Lauder had always seemed like a brand more into skin care and some blah granny-kind makeup with boring packaging. I reckon this sentiment was common among their customer base and Estee Lauder revamped and re-hauled their makeup line recently and how. With the entry of Tom Pecheux, ex-makeup artist, current Creative Director for their makeup line – Estee Lauder created quite a bang! He is the same person who, as the ex- makeup image creator of Shiseido, had placed Shiseido on the world map, till he moved to Estee Lauder.

Benefits:

Looks and feels incredible.  It leaves lips wanting more.

Retails at $26 in US and INR 1735 in India – for 3.8 gm.

Packaging:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the packaging!! Not only does it look Luxe, it is practical too!

Estee Lauder - Wildly Pink - Packaging

The lipstick comes enclosed in a box.  The box has a small window for you to be able to identify the colour and the best part is that the box comes seal wrapped! You know that no one else has touched the lipstick or swatched it – ensuring I don’t go through a repeat of my experience with Bourjois lipstick purchased from Lifestyle in Chandigarh!

The lipstick itself has a luxe gold casing with a glass bottom through which you can see the colour of the lipstick – the same design which has been blatantly copied by Bourjois for their Rouge Edition line and by Faces.

The lipstick case closes smoothly and the alignment is such that it is not likely to come loose in the bag.  Love the EL logo on the lipstick case.

My Take on Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick – Wildly Pink:

The colour is a bright, happy, intense blue-toned pink – comparable to Bobbi Brown’s Mod Pink; however, the texture of the two lipsticks is extremely different.  While, Bobbi’s range leans towards a more natural look, the Estee Lauder Pure Color line has emphasis on the pop of colour and is more intense.  Please note that the pop of colour is in no way garish or neonish. The colour is bright – not “in your face” kind of bright! The lipstick goes on creamy (not gloopy or overly thick).  The lipstick has excellent pigmentation – one swipe is enough for the true colour to show. You do not need to build up the colour.

Estee Lauder - Wildly Pink 1

This is supposed to be part of the Satin finish (the line has two finishes – Satin for Lasting Creme and Lustrous for Lasting Shimmer). Please take note that the finish is not like MAC satin finish (which I find quite drying once it settles).

Estee Lauder - wildly pink 2

Once applied, the colour settles down on your lips – so there is no transference; however, it does not dry out my (already dry) lips or settle into the fine lines of my lips.

Estee Lauder - Wildly Pink 4

The colour stays true through snacks/mini-meals for a good 6 hours. Post fading, it leaves a faint pink stain which stays for about another hour. It does not transfer.

Swatches

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick – Wildly Pink:

  • Beautiful colour – easily wearable, extremely flattering, instantly brightens up the face.
  • Excellent pigmentation.
  • Would suit most skin tones – from light spectrum to dark.
  • Easy to apply from the tube.
  • Comes in a sealed tamper-proof packaging.
  • Excellent luxe and practical case.
  • Does not feather.
  • Despite its semi-matte finish – does not accentuate the fine lines of my lips.
  • Did not dry out my lips.

Cons of Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick – Wildly Pink:

Yes, the price is on the steep side; however, I do not consider it to be a con because the quality, quantity, packaging make up for it. Also, it is our own decision how much we shell out for a product and is independent of the quality of the product.

Grande Finale:

IMBB Rating:

5/5

This is just the beginning of my reviews for Estee Lauder – love this particular lipstick formula because of the beautiful array of colours, the long-lasting power and the fact that it does not dry my lips. What more do you want from a lipstick? Its not gonna dry-clean my clothes!

Will I Repurchase Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick – Wildly Pink?

Yes, for this line of EL and yes, for the colour. Again, I have put my money where my mouth is because I did go back and pick up the colour, even though I had it in the travel palette and then kept going back for more colours – which would be reviewed shortly!!  I do seem to be writing in fits and starts, but my little cherubs have been unwell and that takes precedence over everything else. Now that they are feeling better – I am back with more shopping and more reviews!!

    1. *thankyou* Megha! Im glad you liked it!

Yes, it is on the expensive side…however, the range is fabulous and does last on your lips. I prefer to save up and buy something which will make me reach out for it in my vanity (be it colour, texture or plushness) rather than have a plethora of ones which get lost in the maize of the numerous product launches. Do give it a try in the store and roam the whole day…you will know what I mean! *preen* *preen*

      1. ur makeup stash is sooo droolworthy kk. where do u purchase all the stuff from? bobbi brown and all. it is only now tht bb is available in india.
actually u r right abt saving up and buy few good products which u know are really good.. instead of random buys which u dont even use it thrice and just dump it in some dark corner of ur makeup drawer. the next thing u know, during diwali safai, it is already past the expiry date! i am sure most of us would agree to this….
even i have started investing in few good products..!!

        1. So true Jyoti! It takes a little bit of control but I think it makes sense in the long run coz realistically, which lipstick did we last finish? So better to buy something awesome than 3-4 ok ones! And the other rule I try to follow is to avoid impulse buy – I do get carried away sometimes but prefer to read about the product in the blogosphere before buying. Thats why I feel very passionately about my reviews….I want it to help others take a decision rather than do a “sitting-on-the-fence” kind of review. Especially if someone is going to buy a product worth 1700 based on my review…i have to give all possible info. Thats another reason I generally avoid hand swatches of lipsticks…coz u cant really read much from them! You wont know how it will work on the face!

I have bought some stuff online or else duty free shopping myself or give a list to hubby strictly to be followed with no margin of straying…you know how men are – fuschia pink, raspberry pink, baby pink…its all PINK for them!

    1. *thankyou* *thankyou* Jomol! Yes, it is a pretty pretty shade!! More coming up….Im confused which to pick first for review!! rofl rofl rofl

    1. *thankyou* *thankyou* *thankyou* Rati! Means a lot…coming from you! I know you have 2 of my favourite colours from this range – Raspberry shimmer and Coral Fantasy!! *powder* *powder* Actually, I have noticed, you have invariable already reviewed some shade which I pick up!! For me, this means I have picked a nice colour!! *hifive* *hifive*

    1. *thankyou* Sowmya….so sweet of you to say that!

Yes, you should definitely experiment with colours – I know the entire n*d* lips trend but nothing like a bright colour to make your spirits lift and add brighteness not just to your face…to your day as well! *happydance* *happydance*
