Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick – Rebel Raspberry Review

I am back again with a lipstick from one of my favourite brands – Estee Lauder – Vivid Shine lipstick in Rebel Raspberry.  There’s a lot of interest in this lip colour that Kareena Kapoor is sporting in one of her iconic looks, from the movie “Talaash,” for the song “Muskaanein jhooti hai.” The colour is supposed to be so deep, so intense, so unique that loads of people are attempting to recreate the magic by mixing colours, mixing formulas, etc, etc. Here is my attempt at re-creating that colour – so what colours did I mix? None! I present to you Rebel Raspberry from Estee Lauder.

Estee+Lauder+Pure+Color+Vivid+Shine+Lipstick+Rebel+Raspberry+Review

As I have mentioned in my previous review on Poppy Love, the Pure Color Vivid Shine lipsticks provide an amazing pop of colour, are long lasting and have this amazing micro-shimmer in it.

Product Description:

Color so vivid, it’s luminous. Light-emitting prism pearls create multi-luminous effects. For amplified color and unprecedented sparkling shine. Clusters of up to 8 different shaped pearls cast diamond-like reflections.  Silver and gold sparkle pearls neutralize lip tone. All shades look great on every skin tone. Lips love it. Feels so good: lightweight, creamy, conditioning.  True vision color – Maximized color impact, Magnified vibrancy, clarity and dimension, Amplified brilliance. Light-to-medium, buildable coverage. Wears for hours. Stays color true.  Enriched with lip-loving ingredients, including apricot kernel, shea butter and murumuru butter that leave lips soft, smooth and conditioned.

Benefits:

Vivid color, luminous shine.  Lip-lighting lipstick.

Price:

$26 in US/INR 1735 in India.

Packaging:

The Vivid Shine range has the same packaging as that of the Long Lasting range. Its tamper proof, luxe and practical. It’s a gold case with glass bottom which helps identify the colour – if you have more than one of these. The cap fits in snugly, so there is no chance of it coming loose accidentally. Love the EL logo on the lipstick case – very classy. Refer pics for details.  The lipstick comes enclosed in a cardboard box, which has a small cut-out enabling you to identify the colour. The box comes seal wrapped which ensures that no one else has touched or swatched the lipstick before you. Appreciate the care Estee Lauder has taken to ensure the product reaches its customer intact.

My Experience with Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick – Rebel Raspberry:

As per Estee Lauder press releases, the colour is “Dark Pink,” seriously? That’s the best you can do to describe this beautiful colour?Okay, let me try.  The colour is a deep intense berry colour with a plummy tone and purple sparkle/glitter. The sparkle gives it luminosity as well as depth.  Please note that the sparkle does not feel gritty. The sparkle ensures that the lipstick retains a sheen through its wear, removing the need to apply lip gloss on top.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick Rebel Raspberry 4

One swipe is good for 80% color deposit. Multiple swipes will build the intensity and take it up to the colour on Kareena’s lips! In spite of the intensity and richness of the colour, it is easy to apply directly from the tube without the use of a lip brush.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick Rebel Raspberry 5

The lipstick is long lasting – about 6 hours plus (with mini snacks in between). The lipstick leaves behind a pinkish stain with lingering glitter unlike Poppy Love, the stain lasts for only about an hour. I would have expected the colour to last longer, since it was darker than Poppy Love; however, that is not the case.

Estee Lauder Raspberry

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick – Rebel Raspberry:

  • Intense vibrant colour – with a constant luminous sheen.
  • Unique shade – and extremely sought after!
  • Perfect colour for an evening out.
  • Excellent pigmentation – a single swipe is enough for good colour coverage; however, multiple swipes (2-3) will build the intensity to the same colour as the tube.
  • Easy to apply from the tube.
  • The lipstick applies creamy – without any tug or pull.
  • Does not settle into the fine lines of the lips.
  • Does not hydrate but doesn’t dry out the lips either.
  • Despite the dark colour – there was no feathering or bleeding.
  • The stain, with shimmer, stays for about an hour or so.
  • Luxe and tamper-proof packaging.
  • No price caveat again – quality does not get determined by price!

Cons of Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick – Rebel Raspberry:

None.

IMBB Rating:

Yes, again a 5/5 product.

A unique colour which does not need you to mix 2-3 colours or apply gloss and is still long lasting.  I love the packaging! I just wish the lipstick had EL lisignia etched on it like most high-end brands do!

So, have you too been lemming for Kareena’s lip colour from Talaash? Do you think this is a good dupe?

*thankyou* Shrutika! Thanks Gurrl! Yeah…lippies are never-ending but I really need to pick some other products for review, especially perfumes – that would be challenging! *haan ji* *haan ji*

U dont use liquid liners!! Ive lived my life on them…ever since my teens. I would be ok going out without a lippy but not without my liner. And I tried so many drugstore options (pocket-money and availability did not allow high end alternatives) – finally settled on Loreal…God knows how many (read atleast 2 dozen) I would have used in this lifetime already! I still find it easier to use it than gel liners…it takes me 2 seconds!! rofl rofl

Oh welcome . But im bad using them smtimes i feel im an 80year old person . Me hav really shakey hands. If i meet u then make me teach using them . I only hoard on mny and lakme in affordable . I tend to get most hi end things from relatives . I love gel eyelines but hardly use them bcuz most of my day spends in school and tuitions . Other wise i love collecting everytype of makeup . A Dozen u definitely are an addict . You have quite big eyes. *drool* can i call u KK bcuz ur way too elder to me . Yaa i want somer eyemakeup reviews from u….!!! *woot* nthing is tough for u rofl *hihi* *jai ho*

Lovely relatives!! rofl rofl

Sure, feel free to call me KK, K, K2, Kuls – used to all of them! My preferred name has been K/K2.

I guess more than technique, its practise which has worked for me…ive been using liquid liners since my teens…so good 15-18yrs practise – almost daily. I want to do eye makeup reviews but my experience is limited to gel liners and currently loving cream shadows / paint pots. I have done 2 makeup tutorials with MAC but still hesitant with doing it on a regular basis. *headbang* *headbang* I guess, i need to take out time and practise.

I find skincare and perfume review tough cause its difficult to show result / fragrance. But I’ll definitely try it. *waiting* *waiting*

And my next review on IMBB will be an eye product…just for you…ok? *hifive*

Yes, its a lovely shade.

Post reading your comments, I swatched it next to Rebel – though both have the same undertone, Rebel leans a little more pink, while this is more intense burgundy. Also, this has the sparkle going for it. In terms of texture, I definitely prefer this. In terms of colour, both are a winner! *clap*

I have another shade in this family, when I review it, I’ll ensure i put in comparative swatches of Rebel Raspberry and MAC Rebel alongside for you! *hifive*

*thankyou* Rati! Its a vampy fall shade, no? I look the sparkle it has. For the reviews, I always apply directly on my lips from the tube. But if I use a primer or nude lip pencil and then apply with a brush, I feel it would look even more intense! Must try!

And Rati, pls dont miss my posts! I look forward to your comments and when I dont see them on my post, I wanna *waaa* *waaa* *waaa*

*thankyou* ! Im glad you liked the shade! I had seen a couple of swatches online, so I had a fair idea of what the colour would be like. But initially, looking at the tube, I too had thought it might be waaaay to dark to carry off. But it IS a pretty shade! *haan ji*

Yes, this shade seems to be talked about a lot nowadays! And EL packaging is definitely excellent – else the design wouldnt have been copied by so many other companies! :P
