How To Make Exfoliating Soap At Home – Do It Yourself Series

How To Make Exfoliating Soap At Home – Do It Yourself Series

Hi Everyone,

I am going to start a new “Do-It-Yourself” series on IMBB where I will be posting fun things you can create yourself at home, by using products/contents from your kitchen shelf.  I am a big fan of D-I-Y stuff and keep experimenting a lot. So, I thought why not share it with you all here.

I love to use body scrubs and more often, I reach for exfoliating soaps to save me some time in the shower.  Today, I will be showing you how you can make an exfoliating soap with ingredients easily available at home.

Here is what all you will need for it:

How To Make Exfoliating Soap At Home Do It Yourself Series

1. A clear soap – I use normal glycerine-based Pears soap. I haven’t used any other soap as yet, so not sure if they will work too or not.

Pears Soap

2. Oats, some body scrub and coffee (optional).

Body Scrub

3. Some rose petals.

Rose petals

4. Coconut oil/Olive oil.

Parachute

5. Any essential oils of your choice.

6. A glass/plastic bowl which is microwave safe.

Glass bowl

7. A spoon and a steel/plastic bowl.

Steel bowl

Method

Step 1:

Take your clear soap in a glass/plastic bowl and melt it. Use a double boiler to melt it or you can even microwave it. Just make sure, if you opt to use a microwave, that you should “not overheat” on high temperature. Heat for 10 seconds and then keep checking if it has started to melt. One soap bar does not take a lot of time to melt completely.

Pears Soap

This is how it should be like after melting, like a clear liquid.

Pears Soap

Step 2 :

Add the ingredients in it “quickly,” like the coffee, oats, body scrub, essential oils to the soap liquid. You can also add some oil to make it a more moisturising soap.

Step 3:

Give it a quick mix and make sure there are no lumps.  Transfer it to a “greased with coconut oil” mould or plastic/steel bowl.

Step 4:

Set it in the refrigerator. Wait for 15 minutes.

“Demold” the soap and its done!!

How to make soap

You can use this soap normally like your exfoliating soaps for body (not for your face though).  You can go ahead and experiment with the base scrub you would like to use in the soap and mix oils to make it a rather moisturising one. I prepared another soap last week using sugar and just oats.

Here it is:

Same with Salons..I have got one Raffle Prize in Diwali 2 yrs back..which includes a combo of 5 treatments in Jacques Janine..which is a Premium chain of Salons in Latin America. And as it doesnt have xpiry date..am still thinking when to go..

  36. i want to thank you for this tip…i went ahead and used fiama di wills gel soap and one medimix glycerine soap. I made sugar + rose powder scrub soap with fiama di wills and multani mitti with oats, haldi and rose powder with medimix soap. It turned out really well. I love soaps in general and for a long time i was looking for an ubtan soap. I can now make one at home using more ingredients and oils than normally available in the market.
