Eye Makeup Tutorial for Office Wear

Quick, Subtle and Colourful Eyes for Office Wear

For a long time the office makeup has always comprised of subtle neautral shadows, kajal’liquid liner and a MLBB matte lipstick for many working women. But nowadays, the line between dull office makeup and colourful casual makeup has been blurred (smudged more like… ;))

Many women are braving colours for office wear eye makeup. The office eye makeup look I am showing you all today is planned on the same lines. According to me, the look you wear in a stuffy office setting should be:

1. Easy to do

2. Quick

3. Long staying

4. Subtly vibrant.. 😛

5. Definitely not drab.

The things required for this office look are very few. You just need: 1. Base makeup- Depends on your skin, age and camouflage needs.

I am using

  1. Maybelline Whitestay UV Base and Maybelline Whitestay Compact powder.
  2. Coloured eye pencil- You can use ANY colour you want for office makeup. It could be black, brown, blue, green, Purple, yellow, pink… ANYTHING!!! I am using a Turquoise Eye pencil from Chambor called “Guacamole”.
  3. A golden Eye pencil- I am using Colorbar I-define “Desert Glow” pencil.
  4. A liquid/Gel liner- Preferably black, to define your eyes and offset the colours. I am using Maybelline Gel Liner.
  5. Kajal- For your waterline.
  6. Mascara- I am using Maybelline Colossal Volume Mascara. Here are the products I have used:

Let’s start with our eye makeup look:

• Start the look by priming your lids. I have not used any primer here.

• Now with the coloured eye pencil, draw a thick line along your upper lash line and into the crease.

• Then, with the golden eye pencil, fill in the gap. You don’t have to be very precise for both the steps.

• Now, blend both the liners together with your ring finger. So that the gold is concentrated at the lid and the coloured liner surrounds the lid. It should be intense in the outer corner. Something like this:

• Now, take the coloured liner and apply it on the outer 2/3 rd part of the lower lash line, And apply the gold liner in the inner corner of the eye,

• This, should look like this:

• Dip a fluffy blending brush (I am using Coastal Scents Angled Fluffy Brush) in loose/compact powder and apply it as highlighter on the brow bone.

• This will even out the area beneath your eyebrow, and won’t look very bright. I don’t like to use highlighters at day time. So I use this compact powder trick instead.

• With the same brush, blend the lid colours as well a little above the crease.

• Apply liquid/gel liner on the upper lash line. Keep the line thin and wing it out a little.

• Curl your lashes and apply mascara.

• And, you are done!!! You can use any colour and match it with your outfit. As we are not using any powder shadows, this look stays on at least for 6-7 hours.

• Here’s the finished look:

      1. MF Kohl pencil is not terribly expensive..is 220 I think…and supersoft and black…but I have not tried any other kajal to compare and tell…Oldddd Lakme one was hopeless..new one no idea….dupe for a black kajal??? Me thinking thinking…very difficult

        1. lol..not dupe for black kajal..dupe for the colors Mrun used!! :silly: :silly: :silly: and I don’t wanna buy Maxfactor stuffs, coz they test on animals!! Me completely against this!! 😐 😐 😐 😐 …..The reason why I discarded their blush too, even though it was so good and pigmented….. I don’t mind going for expensive stuffs!! …just that they should not compromise with what my choice!! 🙂 🙂

          1. yeah…..I used to like their stuffs so much..I even reviewed their color and gloss range here on IMBB….and then I came to know about this fact about them testing on animals..and I discarded all their stuffs!! :-(( :-(( :-((

            1. what are you saying? really? Honestly Cali, I have never ever wondered as to which brands test on animals and which dont… But now that you mention, i guess i should be aware of such cruelty too 🙁 Thanks for the info Cali! Thank God i haven’t purchased any other product from them!

            2. Me gave all wrong numbers to Rati…Rati kill me now 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮 me told her to get me swatches and me gave ALLL WRONG WONG numbers :-(( :-(( :-(( :-(( :-(( :-(( :-(( :-(( :-((

                @Suma

Yeah!..I was so shocked to see so many top brands are so cruelty-happy..and I happened to even see the pics of how testing goes on…and a video too..It was so shocking and horrible..I was disturbed for many days..and then I chucked off all the products I had from these companies!!! ….Can’t use them to look beautiful, when the process of making them has been so ugly!!

                1. you saw images and videos? What are you saying? These are actually available on the net! OMG… that is so baaad…. Seriously i never thought that so much cruelty would go into testing these products 🙁 Its so sad!!!! :-(( :-(( :-((
                  :-(( :-(( :-((

                2. Cali..I didn’t know about Max Factor..I won’t buy again from them :-(( To be honest, I am not very passionate about animal cruelty and vegetarianism and ideas like that, but when cruelty free options are easily available, I don’t see why I should continue to encourage the other way. Wrong numbers – swatches for Inglot – she get me palette…you transport it for me okay? Oh btw…will you transport something for me from Delhi to Bangalore? 😀 😀 Yes?? Okkkkieess…all settled then thankkkkkkooooo :-* :-* 😀 :silly:

    1. Thanks Jaish… I am not exactly a fan of Maybelline.. But I do love some of their products..

Glad you found the tute useful… :-)) 😀

  8. Nice look!! And thanks for all the info about animal testing…I had no idea so many brands do this. Is it even possible to find safe substitutes for all these drugstore brands? 😯 😯 ?:-) I tried to read PETA’s link but its so confusing.
Could someone do a post, maybe? Like not animal tested brands in India–Drugstore and high-end? Pleaseeee

  9. wow! that’s pretty interesting and easy to do as well! Never imagine using eye-liners this way. It looks great.. I think I will try it too. Have found powder shadows quite time-consuming to apply in the mornings.
