Favorite Skincare and Makeup Stuff from 2016

Hello Everyone and a Very Happy New Year 🙂

End of the year is usually a time for me to reflect back. While last year, on the whole was pretty crappy, there were some great moments, which help us in keep going and hopeful. So, here’s hoping for a better 2017.

For the last few weeks, I have been going through my collection, sorting out my most loved makeup/skincare items of the year, to share with all you wonderful IMBB readers. I hope you find this list helpful.

Makeup:

Foundation: I wasn’t quite blown away with the selection of new foundations this year, so I have mostly been revisiting my old favorites. Since my skin has been behaving these days with less and less breakouts, my absolute favorite of last year was the Dior Nude Air Skin Serum Foundation. I am almost halfway through this baby, I love using this with a flat top kabuki instead of a sponge. Quick, easy and flawless!

Primer:  I have had a long love affair with the Guerlain L’Or Pure Radiance Face Primer. Come summer or winter, this has been my go-to primer. While it is quite hydrating on its own, I sometimes mix in my Cover FX Custom Infusion Drops which is another favorite of the year.

Concealer:  Hands down – Tarte shape tape is the best discovery of the year. Absolute full coverage, easy to blend and stays put without creasing all day. What more could you want.

Powder:  Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Powder has been all that I have reached for this year. Such a lightweight, non-cakey, non-chalky powder which mattfies but does not leave your skin looking flat.

Eyeshadows:  Natasha Denona shadows were all the hype this year and not without reason. I own 3 of her 5-pan palettes (Palette #10, Palette #11, and Palette #6), and especially enjoy her metallic shadows. So creamy and boy, do they pack intense pigmentation! I couldn’t live without these.

Another great discovery were Juvias place eyeshadows. I own all 3 and am head-over-heels in love with them. Don’t believe me? Check out the review of the Masquerade palette and the EOTD will convince you.

Highlight:  The Cover Fx custom enhancer drops was a great example of how amazing things come in small packages. This versatile little liquid does it all. Use it alone or mix in with your foundation or as a crème eyeshadows, it never fails to leave you glowing like the sun.

Blush:  I have been a long lover of Becca mineral blushes and when she released her luminous blush range, it was like my prayers were answers. They are smooth, easy to blend, and leave a luminous flush which will not offend the glitter haters. My favorite has been the shade “Snapdragon.”

Lipsticks:  The Tom Ford Lips and Boys collection lipsticks, which thankfully, have been added to their permanent line, have been those tiny joys. Not to mention how cute these tiny lipsticks are. This range has a great array of shades and are also pocket friendly (in matter of cost and size both).

I have particularly loved the Jouer lip cremes in their metallic shades. My absolute favorites have been Dahlia and Bronzed Rose. Looking for something new to try in the lip department? Then, try these, you won’t be disappointed 🙂

Skin Care:  I have refrained from experimenting too much with my skin care this year. The only new things that I have added are moisturizers which my dry and parched skin can never get enough of. Drunk Elephant B Intensive Hydra Gel has been an absolute hit. I use it constantly under makeup, before bed. The only painful thing about it is the hefty price.

Another way to pamper your skin is with face mask. The Glossier face masks were an amazing discovery. While I love both their Mega Green Mask and the Moisturizing Moon Mask has been the answer to dry skin woes; 20 minutes with this and my skin is renewed and smooth, like a baby’s bottom.
