Forest Essentials Lavender and Neroli Light Day Lotion Review

Forest Essentials Lavender and Neroli Light Day Lotion Review

Background:

I picked up this product for my sensitive skin which can’t take too much layering of products like wearing a different moisturizer and on top of that, a sunscreen. So I was looking for something to suit acne prone, oily skin with SPF and picked it up very happily. This was suggested by the SA who recommended this for oily, blemished skin. I really wanted to love this product but am quite disenchanted.

Price & Quantity:

When I bought this last year, the price was Rs. 975. However, they have increased the price to Rs.1445 on their website. The product contains 40ml lotion. Very overpriced I feel. Even the Body shop moisturizer with SPF costs a little lesser than this stuff!

My experience with the product:

As I mentioned, I really wanted to like this product but I found that its amazing fragrance kind of irritates my skin. It feels a little strong on the face and I usually stay away from it. I have barely used the stuff since last year so the bottle is still full. The texture is soft and lotiony and you need very little to go on your entire face and another dollop for your neck. The problem is that per researchers, SPF lotion is supposed to be applied a big quantity, as much as a shot glass. The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends a full nickel-size dollop of sunscreen just on your face alone. (Source: about.com).

So, I am caught in between using this lotion’s claim, that one pump is enough and that shot glass claim. Anyway, this lotion has pretty amazing ingredients which have been known to provide a lot of love to the skin since centuries bygone. To refresh my memories of this product for the sake of this review, I am wearing this lotion right now and find that it is not irritating my skin. My face is pretty shiny though. So if I am to give the benefit of the doubt to this lotion, I would say that last year anyway my skin was going through a bad phase and so probably could not take this lotion very well. It used to feel a little inflamed. But I have no such sensation right now. I guess that means that I am not recommending this lotion to someone whose skin is going thru a very sensitive phase. Once it is better, this lotion may be used.

Pros of Lavender and Neroli Light Day Lotion:
1. It is a natural, two-in-one product that moisturizes the face nicely.
2. It is herbal and has nice ingredients that one can’t simply throw together at home.
3. It gives the face a nice glow.
4. It is also supposed to lighten the face per its claim.
5. It has a soothing fragrance of lavender and I’m a lavender baby through and through.
6. No crazy chemicals like body shop moisture lotions with spf, all natural ingredients.

Cons of Lavender and Neroli Light Day Lotion
1. Pricey! 1445 for 40ml. The magic is not there which should be there for this price.
2. May irritate extra sensitive skin.
3. It doesn’t give a matte fresh face if you like that.
4. As a rule, products for sensitive skin should be fragrance free and non comedogenic. But this lotion claims neither and has a powerful fragrance.

Would I recommend it?

As I mentioned, if your skin is in control, use it. If not, don’t use it.

Would I buy it again?

No, I don’t think so.

  1. shivani, u knw i almost bought this ,as a pushy SA once tried to coonvince me for it….but instead i asked for som qty in a sample jar and i tried it for 3-4 times n didnt like it at all…m glad dat i didnt buy it 😐

  2. Is so expensiive naaa..would be great if it worked..but this tho didnt work also 🙁 I am no fan of TBS face skincare..I have never bought any till now..but this lotion definitely is not all-natural!! From the ingredient list you have mentioned:

Calendula, Ashwagandha, Gokharu Satawari, Vitamin E, Almond Oil, Kokum Butter, Organic Beeswax, Tulsi, Nagkeshar, Lavender Essential Oil, Neroli Essential Oil.

So what is the SPF ingredient???? For all of TBS faults, I think it’s nice they list out ALL their ingredients 😐 😐 😐

    1. Radhika, you are right! it doesnt have any physical sunscreen ingredient either…hmm… i agree with you on tbs.

  3. Baap re, its damn costly!!! isse acha apne saste lotion me lavender essential oil from aroma magic dal do aur use karo!

  4. Forest essential only mentions key ingredients on product. check it shivani. These products are not pure herbal products. they only avoid to print the chemicals used.
