Forest Essentials Roop Nikhar Gulab Facial Ubtan Review

By Aqualung

I have normal to dry, slightly sensitive skin, so I’m not in favor of using scrubs as it always breaks me out and leaves me with red bumps. I was on the lookout for an all-natural scrub or a mild exfoliate.  After reading good verdicts on FE products and ubtans, I decided to check out their store.  The SA asked me to try Roop Nikhar Ubtan as its mild and the rose powder in the scrub would help calm my sensitive skin.  So, I bought this one and the Star anise under eye cream.

Forest Essentials Roop Nikhar Gulab Facial Ubtan Review

Product Description:

A fresh rose petal based formulation for a porcelain smooth glowing skin.  Roop Nikhar Gulab Ubtan is made from an old recipe for a Rose and Badam Ubtan made from Ground Almonds, Pistachio Seeds, Fresh Rose Petals, Sandalwood, Turmeric, Ayurvedic herbs and Flowers.

How To Use:

Suggested by them: Use regularly for a nourished clear complexion. Mix with milk into a paste, and use to wash face. Rinse well.

However, I use Fab India Rose Water/normal water and make a paste as milk doesn’t suit my skin.

Quantity:

50 grams.

Price:

My Experience with Forest Essentials Roop Nikhar Gulab Facial Ubtan:

I’m sad to say that this product is disappointing. I understand that Ayurvedic/organic products take time. So, I religiously used this for more than a month before writing this review (which is also my first review for IMBB).

I wash my face with Cetaphil cleanser and gently rub the paste and leave it on for 5 minutes, then scrub around my nose and forehead and wash it off.  While I’m glad that it didn’t break out my skin, there has been no change in the texture/complexion of the skin.  It doesn’t even give the good old smooth feeling on my skin post using the ubtan. I feel absolutely nothing after using this for so long. This just works as a normal cleanser and nothing more.  The texture of the product is not that fine and doesn’t make a smooth paste. Its coarse and the grainy particles of lentil powder can be seen.  Perhaps this is the reason it doesn’t glide on the skin easily and falls out pretty quickly. Because of the same reason, you can’t even scrub if you have delicate skin. Its pretty rough on the skin and leaves mild rashes if you try too hard.

Facial Ubtan

You have to be gentle and wash your face a couple of times, because it has haldi and can leave a very mild yellow tinge.  It would fade away though as its not that strong.  Although it doesn’t cause your skin to go dry, you will need a moisturizer after using the ubtan.  To summarize, this is a good-smelling natural cleanser without any benefits to the skin.

Pros of Forest Essentials Roop Nikhar Gulab Facial Ubtan:

  • Smells wonderful and pleasant.
  • Didn’t cause any breakout.
  • No tingling/irritation.
  • No dryness after washing, pretty decent.
  • All natural ingredients.
  • No animal testing.

Cons of Forest Essentials Roop Nikhar Gulab Facial Ubtan:

  • No improvement in the skin’s texture.
  • Doesn’t do what it claims even remotely.
  • Leaves a mild yellow tinge due to the turmeric in the ubtan.
  • Coarse particles can be rough on the skin.
  • Price!! (I expected it to do miracles).

Will I Repurchase Forest Essentials Roop Nikhar Gulab Facial Ubtan?

If you were to go by my personal experience, please don’t waste 650 bucks on this product. It’s a total dud. No improvement after using this product. May be you can try other ubtan variants which has pretty rave reviews on IMBB.

IMBB Rating:

2/5 (one for all natural ingredients and second for no breakouts).

  1. My oily skin love this ubtan and it does what it claims, this ubtan works great for me, it make my dull skin fresh and even out my skin tone , I personally love this ubtan

    1. Hey Aqualung
I’m happy u did ur first review over IMBB…
I suggest you to use this ubtan as a face pack instead of scrub …
mix it with raw milk and leave it for around 15 minutes…!!!

  2. for any coarse ubtan/facepack, just mix with honey… easy to apply n wont fall off face..also the haldi wont stain as much n honey will moisturize skin …. i love FE 🙂

  3. hey aqualung,
Even i have sensitive skin and FE tejasvi ubtan is my HG skin care product…use your ubtan as a masque,it might work.FE products(especially ubtans) have different batches for their products so texture of ubtan might change,i mean consistency off different ingredients might differ since they are handmade and i have experienced that with my new tejasvi tub compared to earlier one,but that dint affect its performance.

  4. Wow, can’t believe this one was a dud, FE usually has pretty amazing stuff!
I’m still jealous that my Sephora doesn’t carry their stuff, like the Delhi one….!

  5. Oh! Its sad this didnt work for u. It works fab on my combination-sensitive skin. I loveeee it like anything! 🙂 I dont ever want it to get over! And maybe u shouldnt scrub too hard, just leave it like a mask n wash off.
