Garnier Light Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream Review

Garnier Light Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream

Hi Ladies!

Thank you for the wonderful comments I received on my past FOTDs I included on some of my reviews here on IMBB. I remember some are asking me my beauty routine to keep my skin healthy looking. I’ll spill the beans here and now.  Plus, I am going to share with you my experience with Garnier Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream.

My experience with Garnier Light Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream Cream:

To keep my skin looking healthy and young, I use mild/ low strength chemical peel once every 2 months. I was asked by my dermatologist to use a tretinoin -hydroquinone cream after I suffered from severe acne two years ago. I was left with dark spots and acne marks. And that cream helped a lot in clearing my skin faster. Since my skin has improved for more than a year already, I only used that prescribed exfoliant for a week, every 2 months.

I buy my exfoliating/ peeling cream from my dermatologist’s clinic and it is 6 hours away from where I live. And now that I ran out of that cream, I can’t just travel that far at any time soon to get one. And since my face needs some peeling, I asked a friend what peeling cream can she recommend that I can buy at a department store in my area. She suggested Garnier Light Overnight Peeling Cream as it works for her. I got a tube to try.

Garnier Light Overnight Peeling Cream comes in a yellow easy squeeze tube. It has twist open cap and it has 20 ml of product in it. The product itself is white in color and it has that signature Garnier lemon scent to it. It is creamy and easy to spread thinly over the face and neck. It is absorbed by the skin in 15 to 20 minutes. It does not feel oily or greasy on face once absorbed. It is lightweight but it does not dry matte on face.

I’ve used this Garnier Overnight Peeling Cream during the night before bed for a month. On my first two days of application, it feels like normal cream on my face. On the third day, I experienced warm feeling on my cheeks. It is not bothersome though, very much tolerable. I’d say it is something expected from peeling creams.

I would like to note that I have sensitive, acne prone and combination skin. My T-zone area is oily while the rest of my face is a normal to dry, depending on the weather where I live. This cream did not make my skin any oilier during the day and it neither irritated nor caused me breakouts.

I do have dull, old looking skin before I used this and I’d say I’ve seen slight brightening effect on my face the morning after I first used it. It’s quite impressive. And every morning, I am glad to wake up with a brighter complexion.

Garnier Light Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream 5

While I love how it makes my skin appear brighter in such a short span of time, I find it drying on my skin after 5 days of use. I find more dry patches and redness on my face than when I am not using this peeling cream. Well, it’s a peeling cream so dry patches must be part of the peeling process. I did not see big flakes of skin peeling off my face like I used to experience with my old peeling cream. Just small patches of flaky skin which makes it better for me. The flaking stopped after two weeks.
I am hesitant to use a moisturizer over this cream at night as I am not aggressive when it comes to layering chemicals on my face. I am afraid of some unwanted reactions. Whenever I use this or any peeling creams, I moisturize more than once during the day. But then again, after increased use of moisturizer during the day, I still felt that my skin is drier than usual.

It is not indicated on the box as to how long I could use this. Some peeling creams cannot be used for more than 2 months. In my case, I stopped using this Garnier Light Overnight Peeling Cream after one month as I want to pacify skin’s dryness.

In one month of use, I observed that my skin looks brighter and dark spots are noticeably lighter.  I think I’ll use this Garnier Light Overnight Peeling Cream when my skin is turning dull again and when it is no longer dry. I don’t want to self medicate but I think I won’t use this for more than a month every time, as it is drying.

Garnier Light Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream – What I Like:

  • -It smells okay.
  • -It makes my face appear brighter.
  • -Fades dark spots in a month.
  • -It did not give me any irritations and breakouts.
  • -No big skin flakes.
  • -It is affordable.

Garnier Light Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream – What I Don’t Like:

  • -It is a bit drying to skin.
  • -Warm feeling on face.
  • -No indication on the label as to until when one can continue using this peeling cream.

IMBB Rating: 3.5/5

Final thoughts:

I would continue using this peeling cream after a month until I finish the tube since I find it effective. Then, I’ll go back to my old brand which I like better in terms of skin renewal.

Now, what’s my beauty regimen?  I do not have perfect skin but I’ve seen much improvement with the regimen I’m into for months before I tried this Garnier Light Overnight Peeling Cream. So I’ll tell you. 

Every Day:

Morning:

Oilatum Bar when my face is normal to oily or L’occitane Extra Gentle Milk Soap when I feel that my skin is extra dry
Dickinsons Witch Hazel 100% Natural Toner
Olay Age Protect Moisturizer

Spectraban Sunblock

Evening:

Shu Umura Cleansing Oil or 4U2 Makeup Remover
Physiogel Cleanser
Dickinsons Witch Hazel 100% Natural Toner
Physiogel Moisturizer

Every Week:

I use variety of face packs and masks. 😛
4U2 Gentle Exfoliating Scrub.

Every 2 months:

Dermcare Hydroquinone + Tretinoin Cream.

So there you go. It’s simple and most of the products I use are gentle on skin. 😉 Thanks so much ladies! Always wear beauty!

    1. Hello Sweta. I started using peeling when I was 28. I am not sure when one can use peeling creams. I only do it once in two months and recently once in 3 months. Me too is skeptical about it at first but with dermatologist’s recommendation, I tried it and worked for me. Better consult a derma, as peeling creams may not work for everyone. 🙂

  2. Nice post!! product seems to be promising.
I have never heard of products which you have listed 🙁 🙁
You have such a beautiful skin.. hope mine can also turn the same.

    1. It works, but can be drying. Those product, I am not familiar with them before as I don’t see them on beauty section shelves. I buy them from a pharmacy (Physiogel) . you may try looking for them most, especially the physiogel wash and cream. 🙂

    1. You are welcome Vidhi. You may check out pharmacy for physiogel cream and cleanser. Here in the Phils, they are being sold only in pharmacies. Not really on the mainstream. *thankyou*
