Gerard Cosmetics Marilyn Star Powder Review

Skin Type: Combination with oily T zone
Skin Tone: Tan-Medium to Dark

Hello beautiful people!
I will be reviewing the Gerard Cosmetics Star Powder in the shade Marilyn today. Some women are blessed with a clear, glowing skin, but people like me need a little help. Not that I mind because this gives me the excuse to hunt down new illuminators or highlighters. In my search for great highlighters for my tanned Indian skin tone, I came across these beauties from an American brand called Gerard Cosmetics. Let’s read more about Marilyn today.

Product Description:
Marilyn was inspired by the ultimate blonde bombshell. A golden, luminous powder that is an ultra luxurious and creamy texture. Reminiscent of crush diamonds, this highlighter will be a girl’s best friend.

My Experience with Gerard Cosmetics Marilyn Star Powder:

packaging

These are called the ‘Star Powders’ and they come in a beautiful gold compact packaging with a mirror (great for on-the-go and even for lipstick touch-ups!). There’s also a clear plastic sort of protective lid to protect your powder from clumsy fingers (like mine) that tend to drop things quite often. However if you ask me to comment on how much the lid protects the powder, I will say it doesn’t necessarily because if you manhandle it (I mean drop it or treat it harshly :P), it will shatter into a million pieces. *dramatic sigh*

back

Marilyn is described on the website as a golden luminous powder, being reminiscent of crushed diamonds. This is absolutely gorgeous for fair skin tones. I have tan to dark skin and for some weird reason my face is darker than the rest of my body. So, on me, Marilyn is a light gold fairly shimmery highlight. It will look more natural on women with fair to medium skin tones. For me this is an all-out highlighter and I prefer to use it when I have functions to attend. You could also dust some on your décolletage and shoulders with a large powder brush to get a nice glow.

highlighter

I also double it as an eye shadow. Just this on the eyelids with a winged liner and some red lipstick will give you a glamorous look. The texture is super soft and buttery. It goes on so smoothly and you need just a wee bit to get that gorgeous glow. I love the fact that these powders can be used as eye shadows or body shimmers too and of course as a highlighter for the high points on your face. It is so versatile!

Cons of Gerard Cosmetics Marilyn Star Powder:

(Because the protective plastic lid is not actually protective)

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Gerard Cosmetics Marilyn Star Powder?
Definitely! But I won’t repurchase these in the immediate future only because I will not be finishing these any time soon. My next purchase will be their lipsticks.
