My Experience with Guerlain Parure Gold Powder Foundation

I am a huge fan of Guerlain Parure Gold Liquid Foundation. When I saw the powder version of it, I knew I had to give it a go. I love a good powder foundation because on somedays I cannot be bothered about using a liquid or creamy product on my face. Some days all I need is a moisturiser, some concealer and powder foundation to finish it all.

The Parure Gold powder foundation comes packed in a gorgeous black glossy casing. There is a press button to open the case. A velvet pouch also comes to store the powder ( I never end up using those). There are two compartments inside- one for holding the powder, a mirror on the top and a bottom compartment to hold the gorgeous velvetty black sponge. There is also a double ‘G’ embossed on the powder. Mine has completed faded because I just cannot stop using the powder foundation. 😛 Infact it has developed a slight dent in the middle already. Oh well!

The texture is smooth, creamy and buttery. It’s almost a mix between a cream and a powder. The powder is very finely milled. It gives a light coverage. You can use it as a powder foundation to get a little more than the light coverage using a sponge. It also gives a lovely light coverage when you use it with a dense kabuki brush. You can also using it as a finishing powder on top of your foundation and it adds that little extra coverage. It works as a great color corrector as well.

The powder does not cake at all or settles in fine lines. It gives that lovely veil to the skin with a bit of radiance. The finish of powder is semi matte. It’s neither dewy nor matte. It would suit all skin types. It does not make skin oily or overly dewy or overly matte. There is a lovely balance that this powder foundation has. It does not accentuate the pores.

For those with sensitive nose…well here’s a bad news. It has quite a significant scent to it. I love it. It reminds me of Pond’s cold cream ( you can kill me now. 😛 ). But that’s what it smells to me and I love it! 😀 That said, I would have preferred it to be non-perfumy.

The foundation has SPF 10. It photographs great. And it does not have powdery / chalky look to it. It makes skin look very natural. The coverage might not be very high for this but it totally color corrects the skin. If you have any redness, this would totally neutralise it. It also comes in 16 shades so you’d be able to find a very close match to your skin tone.

Overall, this is a luxury powder foundation hence comes with a tall price tag. But it’s worth very penny and makes your skin look so polished and refined.

  1. This seems like such an amazing foundation! I hope to lay my hands on this soon! I wish you had included a FOTD (nope! never get tired seeing your face hun :))! Haha I like the smell of Pond’s cold cream as well.. reminds me of my grandma 🙂

    1. haha!! with powder foundations it is difficult to show the effect on camera so kinda didnt include. yes i like it too. But didnt expect it to smell like that. 😀

  2. I love such products, perfect for touch-ups. But I still can’t bring myself to use powder foundations on their own. Maybe because of my ever dry skin. But sure will give it a try next time on Guerlain’s counter 🙂

  3. I am also fan of powder foundations due to my oily skin 🙂 And this seems gud for minor flaws even! its semi-matte finish will work for my skin in winters yay!! had to check it out. Thank u rati for sharing his beauty.. most of the times we get motivation & inspiration from your reviews and products 🙂

  4. I love Guerlain products. Unfortunately, they are not available in Kolkata 🙁 The only complaint I have about their products is they are way too fragrant, and fragrance isn’t skincare …
