H2O+ Spa Sea Moss Black Sand Body Scrub Review

H2O+ Spa Sea Moss Black Sand Body Scrub

Hullo lovelies! How are you guys doing today? 😀
I made a little mental note to myself that I will try to rotate between skincare & makeup in every alternate post for IMBB because when I start on lipsticks, I don’t stop & too much of a good thing isn’t great, you know that right? 😛 So today we’re going to talk about one of my current skincare favorites! It’s the black sand body scrub from H2O+ Spa Sea Moss Range that I picked up about a month back online in a mini H2O+ haul 😀

My Experience With H2O+ Spa Sea Moss Black Sand Body Scrub

As I have said before, marine skincare is pretty much my current obsession. They are the reigning knights of my recent regimes. 😛 And I have been blessed more than decent benefits! With a skin as dry as mine, I never trusted it with a scrub just like that. Most of the scrubs tend to over-clean your skin, drench away the excess oils as well as the necessary ones. It’s nightmare if your skin resembles the great Sahara desert. However, my negative idea about body scrubs was successfully lifted by Caudalie Crushed Cabernet Scrub & yes, I tried it out only because it was Caudalie. 😛 So that was me, slowly realizing that the body needs as much exfoliation as the face does & scrubbing is as important as sunscreen!

H2O+ Spa Black Sand body scrub is the part of the Sea Moss Spa range which contains a shower gel as well. It comes a biiiiig heavy tube with a plastic cap consisting a fine round outing for the watery gel texture.
The packaging looks okay to me, it’s as black as the scrub itself! Although it’s a personal thing, I like my body scrubs rather in tubs than in tubes. You get a little carried away & forget to close the mouth & gah! The entire bath looks like a blackboard.

The texture is superb. Not too runny yet absolutely manageable to work with. It appears sparkly black at first, although in bright sunlight you can see the hint of mossy green. It totally feels like you are staring at a little starry sky of your own in the grasp of you palm. 😀 It consists of rough micro particles, a mixture of Iris moss, Water Lily & Black sand. Now for those who don’t know, black sand is one of those HG beauty ingredients known to be one of nature’s best exfoliants. It’s basically the sand that forms when hot lava meets the shallow sea surface. Volcanic eruptions are not your everyday bowl of cereals, are they? So if it really is Black Sand inside that tube, H2O+ struck quite a chord there!

I started using it right after I finished the Bvlgari Omnia Coral & to start with, it did feel a bit harsh on the skin. But with a few days as I warmed up to the formula, it wasn’t even close to that bad! The best bit is that it lathers rather well without diminishing or melting the sand particles away which helps a great great deal use it. My first observation was how it ruled out my biggest fear by not drying my skin out, like not at all! With 4-5 uses, my skin felt softer, smoothened & nurtured. This is however not going to impress you straightaway if you buy your bath necessities with your sniffing prowess. 😛 (Errr I do that too)
It doesn’t smell fruity or strong or anything you would find in most of the regular body scrubs. This is Spa, more like a body treatment so I guess they rather invested in the effects than the looks. 😀 The subdued smell is refreshing & apart from making you clean (well, technically) it makes you feel thoroughly clean as well 😀 😀 And I sincerely like that. It often feels like you just walked into a luxury spa instead of your bath. Full credit to H2O+ for really living upto that part of the claim.

Pros of H2O+ Spa Sea Moss Black Sand Body Scrub

• Excellent value for money. This is so far my cheapest body scrub & from the looks of it, it’s good to give you a solid three-four months run if you use twice-thrice a week.
• Flooring formula. God bless black sand 😀
• Not too runny a texture which makes it super easy to use. Also, lathers genuinely well!
• Does not over-clean your skin by any means. Smoothing, non-drying little thing that rather leaves your body hydrated.
• Top notch exfoliation. The irish moss blends with sea-salt, aloe vera & provitamin B to revitalize & soothe your skin to perfection.
• I like the gentle notes of water lily as a scent for a change! Yes yes, I like everything heady from Strawberry to chocolate. 😛 But this, surprisingly feels rather fresh.
• It has anti-oxidising & anti-inflammatory properties, wooohooooo my hands must look like Anushka Sharma then!!! No, not that far. 😛 But it removes light, recent tans & I will bet you my lipstick stash on that!
(Excluding the YSL ones)
(And the NARS ones)

Cons of H2O+ Spa Sea Moss Black Sand Body Scrub

• I really wish it had rather come in a tub.
• IT STINGS! This is a warning for people like me when the majority of you can just laugh at us.
• You need to use a loofah or an exfoliating cloth. I figured that it feels quite harsh to rub it on with bare hands.

Overall, I’d say that this is an excellent excellent body scrub with a spot on never-fail formula. I can totally see this working wonders for dry & combination skin. 😀 Experience-wise if I were to do a quick comparison, H2O+ Spa Sea Moss Black Sand body scrub is better than Origins Salt Scrub, Victoria’s Secret Such a flirt, Bliss Super Minty & Clinique Sparkle Cream. But but but, I think there’s still some way to go for H2O+ to rival the GOD trio of body scrubs, Soap & Glory, The Body Shop & Bath and Body Works. 😀 So it fell short of my all time favorites, The Body Shop Spa Wisdom one and Soap & Glory’s Flake Away. BBW’s stress relief is the closest the black sand comes to.

(Did I sound like the little scrub-wh..err fanatic I am? :P)

Would you recommend H2O+ Spa Sea Moss Black Sand Body Scrub?
Absolutely yes, unless you have very oily skin. This has to be one of the best body scrubs currently available in the Indian market & certainly a class apart from the most. 😀

Would you repurchase H2O+ Spa Sea Moss Black Sand Body Scrub?

Might well do. It’s life-affirming to find a formula like this with a skin like mine. 😀 But once I finish this off, I’m certainly going to try out Sea marine & Oasis body scrubs from this range. Dear H2O+, you got me hooked!
