Himalaya Althea Cream Review

I have no idea why this brand names its products Clarina or Althea, but I am sure about the quality of products. Himalaya Herbals products are never harsh, they do work for me in the long run and you get good quality within the affordable price range. I picked this cream from their flagship store in Pune. I have already reviewed the lotion also previously here.

Product Description:
Intense moisturizer for dry skin. Althea is a topical formulation recommended for the management of xerosis (abnormal dryness of skin). Althea moisturizes and soothes dry, inflamed, and itchy skin. Althea replenishes critical skin lipids, restores skin hydration and supports the integrity of the natural skin barrier. It improves the appearance of the skin and promotes softer, healthier-looking skin. Althea is non-sticky, non-staining and free from mineral oils, parabens, fragrances and artificial colors.

Key Ingredients:
Rice (Oryza sativa) The unique, naturally occurring ceramides in rice bran help replenish skin lipids, significantly increase water content in the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the skin), significantly reduce transepidermal water loss, and restore effective skin barrier function. Kokum (Garcinia indica) has an emollient effect and fills up spaces between skin flakes, reduces transepidermal water loss and enhances epidermal barrier function, thus helping to maintain skin hydration and integrity.  Coconut (Cocos nucifera) inhibits the inflammatory response and helps modulate the skin’s immune response.  Kumari (Aloe vera) acts as a humectant by facilitating the transfer of moisture to the skin, and thus improves skin hydration.

My Experience with Himalaya Althea Cream:

I am so fond of this cream and using it currently as a hand cream and foot cream. It’s the best non-greasy cream for my elbows and knees, where I do have dryness. I do not have extreme flaky dry skin issues but this cream is so non-greasy that I might as well use it as a body cream too. It has no obvious fragrance to it and hardly any oily feel. It is very thick to use, but once you apply, it just melts into the skin and leaves skin super soft.

It does not leave any oily stain or any greasy feel, which is amazing considering it’s such a thick cream. It keeps my dry skin on hands, elbows, knees, and feet moisturized and soft for the whole day though I do not mind applying this on the hands often due to the fact that it gets absorbed so quickly. Please get one for your winter skin care, you are sure to like it.
