Himalaya Herbals Protecting Neem and Turmeric Body Wash

Hi Girls,

I have been using Himalaya Herbals products for quite some time now and find the quality and price of these products reasonable. In Australia, Himalaya Herbals products can be found in Indian Grocery stores, but they are pricey. So, I usually buy this brand when travelling to India/Malaysia.

Himalaya Herbals Protecting Neem and Turmeric Body Wash

When I was in Malaysia, I visited a pharmacy and skincare outlet called Watsons.  It is quite famous and has many brands from all over Asia as well as international brands. I bought lots of products from there, but I’m going to review “Himalaya Herbals Neem and Turmeric Protecting Body Wash” today.

I saw this on an offer – buy 2 for the price of 1, I think it was an introductory offer.  I bought 2 bottles for around MYR 14.(This converts to approximately 233 Indian rupees).

Suitable for: All skin types.

Quantity:

200 ml.

Key Ingredients:

Neem (Melia Azadirachta leaf extract), Turmeric (Curcuma Longa root extract).  Other ingredients are common ingredients found in body washes. However this product does not contain sodium laureth sulphate, it contains Ammonium Lauryl sulphate. Ammonium Lauryl sulphate is less irritating and drying than SLS.

Expiry Date:

Around 2 years from date of manufacture or 12 months from first opening the bottle.

Product Description:

A soap free, herbal formulation with the goodness of neem and turmeric to give your skin gentle and effective care. Neem and turmeric, well known for their antibacterial properties, combine to leave your skin clean and refreshed.

My Take on Himalaya Herbals Protecting Neem and Turmeric Body Wash:

The main reason for buying this product was to use it on my back acne.  I have acne scars on my back and when I get free time, I use Banjara’s neem pack on my back. It did give good results, but the process was time consuming and messy. When I saw that this body wash contains neem and turmeric, I thought I should give it a try.  Additionally, turmeric and neem both are well-known antiseptics and was good to use after being out the whole day.  The texture is gel like and is of greenish-yellow colour (neem+turmeric colour).

Himalaya Herbals

The fragrance is herbal, so post shower, you feel clean and refreshed.  I use a back brush to apply it on my acne scars.  My skin feels clean and moisturised. The moisturising effect is not long lasting; however, it does not dry the skin. This product does not claim to moisturise skin, so I don’t mind.  I have been using this for one month, around thrice a week. There is a slight improvement in my back acne and I haven’t got many new ones.  I will continue to use this and see if there is further improvement. This bottle, even though 200 ml, will last only a while as only a small quantity is needed.

Pros of Himalaya Herbals Protecting Neem and Turmeric Body Wash:

  • Value for money, cheap for an herbal product.
  • Contains neem and turmeric which have anti-bacterial properties.
  • Does not contain sodium laureth sulphate.
  • Does not dry or irritate the skin.

Cons of Himalaya Herbals Protecting Neem and Turmeric Body Wash:

  • Does not state what percentage of the product is actually herbal (does not state the % of neem and turmeric).
  • Non-availability in other countries (apart from India and Malaysia/Singapore).
  • Apart from this, I cannot think of any other cons. The only thing is to see more improvement in my back acne, I will continue to finish this bottle and get on with the next bottle.

Will I Purchase Himalaya Herbals Protecting Neem and Turmeric Body Wash Again?

Yes, if I can find it again and if after using the two bottles, my back acne improves tremendously.

I have tried himlayas neem facewash but i didnt like it as it always left a kind of a glycerin-ish film on my face , and since it was mid -summer then and i have tremendously oily skin, it wasnt exactly a pleasant feeling. I would like to try the bodywash though – would be refreshing in the summers wouldnt it – and i guess since it has turmeric – that`d sort of help lose the tan? :P
