H&M Smoky Eyeshadows Palette Smoky Purple Review

These days bold lip colors and minimalist eye makeup are quite the fashion. So when everyone is going one way, it is double fun to do just the opposite 😉 . I feel that n*de lips and dramatic smoky eyes will never go out of fashion. Keeping this in mind, today I have come with a review of the Smoky purple eye shadow palette by H&M. Read on to see how this eye shadow palette has fared for me. 🙂

My Experience with H&M Smoky Eyeshadows Palette Smoky Purple:

This eye shadow palette is a part of the H&M 5 eye shadow sets. I am not a fan of the packaging as quite frankly it looks cheap…. It does not have a mirror, nor does it come with an applicator, which is quite a shame. The absence of applicator defeats the whole purpose of being handy and travel friendly. As, even though you don’t use the applicators that comes with the eye shadow palettes, at least, they can be used in emergencies!

The shades of this palette range from sparkly hues of purple to matte black. Actually the shades look more sparkly in the palette than on eye lids. The first color is a shimmering pink. The pigmentation is not that bad for this one. The second color from the left a bright shimmering taupe. Here you have to layer on and on to get a satisfactory result.

In the middle is the supposed star color, a dark purple with silver glitter particles. Unfortunately here the pigmentation is not as good and the eye shadow is a little crumbly. This is actually the worst of the lot. The second color from the right is a dark brown gray with golden glitter. Pathetic pigmentation on this one as well. The far right is a matte black. This is super well pigmented.

With this palette I have faced a unique issue. The staying power of the eye shadows is quite commendable. But the problem is that you really need a lot, and I mean a lot of product to give a decent payoff. The powder does not stay put on the lids despite using eye primer. So, while it has great staying power, it has poor pigmentation and ability to stick on the lids in the first place. Between the bad color pay off and the powdery texture, I really don’t like this palette.

Summing up the pros and cons for you:

Pros of H&M Smoky Eyeshadows Palette Smoky Purple:

• Affordable.
• Good color selection.
• Excellent staying power.
• Minimal fallout.

Cons of H&M Smoky Eyeshadows Palette Smoky Purple:

• Poor pigmentation, needs a LOT of building up.
• Chalky and powdery.
• No applicator.
• Cheap packaging.

Would I repurchase H&M Smoky Eyeshadows Palette Smoky Purple?

Although, the H&M 5 eye shadow palettes are quite affordable and come in a great selection of colors, I am disappointed with the quality. At this price you can get other drugstore brands like Maybelline, which is really decent (but too glittery). Oh well! The search for a good drugstore eye shadow palette continues.

Would I recommend H&M Smoky Eyeshadows Palette Smoky Purple?

I do not recommend this particular palette, nor am I going to repurchase it. It’s total meh.
