My Experience with H&M Soft Nudes Eyeshadow Palette:

packaging

The nudes palette comes in a sleek and simple plastic compact packaging with a clear top. I like the fact that you can see the colors from the top and the packaging looks so pretty like that. The design is rectangular and quite thin, perfect for traveling. The palette has no mirror (which is a big con) but the overall quality of the palette is pretty impressive. The size of the palette is just perfect; it looks so cute like a chocolate bar and can fit into any bag.

shades

The palette has five colors: a matte ivory color, matte light beige, sparkly champagne (this happens to be my favorite), matte light brown color with (more like a taupe) and a dark brown color with some shimmers (more like a grayish brown). The colors look absolutely gorgeous in the palette. Despite the beautiful packaging, the formulation of the shadows is pretty disappointing. The overall pigmentation is sheer, but that is not the biggest problem. The texture feels overly powdery, excessively talc-y, with not enough binding ingredients. Hence, the shadows are not smooth and buttery. The texture is very chalky and it is very difficult to attain a certain level of pigmentation. It actually takes 4-5 swipes for the color to show up.

hand swatch

A couple of the shades look beautiful but the thin, chalky texture is a big put off especially when you have such good quality and well-formulated drugstore brands’ eyeshadows available in the market at a similar price (L’oreal and Maybelline ones are just too good). I used the colors both with a primer and without one. Without primer, the eyeshadow just disappears leaving behind two gray colored eyes. With primer, the colors do stay on but the pigmentation is so poor that even then the colors do not show up.

The last three shadows are more pigmented than the first two, which is a respite. The first two ones just do not show up. Out of all the five, I have used the middle one, which is a beautiful champagne color a lot to highlight my brow bones and cheeks. The last brown shades, I use as a base for my black smokey eyes or to fill in my brows sometimes.

Pros of H&M Soft Nudes Eyeshadow Palette:

• Affordable
• Beautiful packaging
• Easy to carry around
• Nice choice of colors

Cons of H&M Soft Nudes Eyeshadow Palette:

• Texture is too powdery and chalky
• Texture is not smooth
• Very difficult to apply
• Pigmentation is very poor
• Colors do not show up even after 3-4 swipes
• Not available in India

IMBB Rating:
2/5 (only for the highlight color)

Would I Recommend H&M Soft Nudes Eyeshadow Palette?
I wouldn’t recommend buying this if you want really pigmented shadows. But, for beginners, this palette can be worth a try, looking at the price. But, otherwise a big NO from my side.

  1. That’s disappointing. Eyeshadows looks so gorgeous in palette but in swatches it’s hard to believe that they are same colors! :/

  2. Radhika the palette looks amazing but it sad t hear that the colours are not at all pigmented, they are powdery and the colour pay off is also not good. The eyeshadow shades looked beautiful in the pan but as per your review they are not worth it.
