teeth whitening home remediesHome Remedies for White Teeth

We always discuss lip colors, lipsticks, and lip care. Lips are undoubtedly the most important feature of a woman’s face but what if behind the smile of puckered and beautiful lips come out a set of yellow discolored teeth? What a turn off!

Not all teeth are naturally white, but all of us surely love white teeth. Teeth is one such thing on our face that cannot be accentuated artificially, they have to be good naturally.

Some of us have off-white shaded teeth (like I do), some of us have sparkling white, whereas some of us have white teeth which tend to discolor time to time. I decided to do this post since a lot of ladies suffering from teeth discoloration problems.

Here are some great home remedies for all women who wish to have white teeth without a lot of pain or cost involved. These remedies won’t turn your yellow teeth to white instantly but their prolonged and regular use can lighten the shade of your teeth over a period.

baking soda teeth whiteningBaking Soda

Baking soda is supposedly the best natural washing detergent :P. It is totally safe and all dentists recommend the use of baking soda for teeth whitening. You don’t have to go overboard with it, you only have to dampen your morning toothbrush and dab it in the baking soda and then have your toothpaste applied over it. Brush regularly.

Mix baking soda and Iodine Rich Salt. Top your normal toothpaste with this and brush. Do be very abrasive since it could damage the teeth enamel.

Hydrogen Peroxide

This is the cheapest of all the products used in teeth whitening remedies, and the most popular one too. You may have a slight burning sensation in your gums after using this but it’s all worth it because your mouth will be left with a set of white white clean clean teeth. You need to brush your teeth the normal way you have been doing, and then swish it for a minute and rinse your mouth thoroughly with water. You could also dab a cotton swab in hydrogen peroxide and gently rub it on your teeth, both at the front and rear. You can use a Q tip for this.

strawberries teeth whiteningStrawberries

Well, we know only about their single use, which is eating them. But there is more to it. Strawberries contain agents for teeth whitening; I wonder why they don’t make strawberry toothpastes and only make strawberry face washes and lip balms. :P The strawberry seeds work greatly for teeth cleaning. But yes, it is very important that you brush your teeth immediately after using them. All you need to do is, cut them and rub them on your teeth. You can also mash them, apply it to your toothbrush, and brush out your teeth with it. OR mix strawberry pulp with a pinch of baking soda and brush your teeth with the mixture.

Wood Ash

Well, this is one of the home remedies I tried off late. Wood ash or coal ash does help in teeth whitening. Wood ash has potassium hydroxide as its component which helps in bleaching the teeth whereas the minute crystal like particles scrapes off the plague. You can top your toothpaste with wood ash and brush it, or amalgamate it with your toothpaste and brush your teeth.

Homemade Tooth Paste

Mix baking soda, normal table salt, and hydrogen perioxide with your toothpaste and brush regularly.  (kya aapke toothpaste main namak hai? You can say, ‘HAAN hai’) :P

Citric acid or Lemon juice

Brushing your teeth with either of these helps you get rid of the yellowish tint developed on the teeth.

orange rindOrange rind

The inner portion of the orange rind is used as for whitening the teeth. It is undoubtedly bitter, but then worth for white teeth. Just rub the rind on your teeth surface.

Walnut

Walnut which is crushed is also used for preventing discoloration of teeth and helps in keeping the teeth bacteria free.

Vinegar

Dilute vinegar and water and rinse your mouth with it.

Bay leaves and orange peel

Grind dried bay leaves and orange peel together and use it as a toothpaste top or simply rub it on your teeth with your finger.

Clove oil

Before brushing your teeth, have a drop of clove oil on your toothpaste.

Olive oil

Rub virgin olive oil with the help of a sponge on your teeth.

Other than these there are a few essential things to do for keeping you teeth sparkling white
• Brush your teeth daily. Twice a day is great.
• Floss your teeth regularly.
• Quit alcohol and smoking. :P
• Again the caffeine, keep it aside.
• Use a straw for drinking beverages; this avoids direct contact with the teeth.
• Have cosmetic cleaning done, like once a while, it’s pretty affordable. ;)

So that’s all with teeth cleaning. Hope these tips work for you.

Hydrogen Peroxide, strawberries and citric acid probably even vinegar are too harsh for the teeth enamel so should be avoided…instead of them chew an apple or carrot or cabbage after a meal to clean the teeth naturally….

Mya December 2, 2011 at 3:07 am

Brushing your teeth with citric acid will only cause the enamel to wear and become translucent. it will become weak and then you’ll get decay. not so sexy!
