Homemade Body Washes

Using body wash instead of bar soap does not have to be an expensive luxury. You can make your own body wash with a scent you love in a very cost effective way. Homemade products not only save your money they pamper your skin too with natural ingredients that do not cause skin irritations.

Coconut Oil and Shea Butter Body Wash

Take 2 ounces of coconut oil and add ¼ cup shea butter, 1 tablespoon ground oatmeal, 1 teaspoon rosewater and about 2 inches of aloe skinned and pureed. Put all the ingredients in the blender and blend until you get a smooth consistency. Add ¼ teaspoon of vitamin C powder in the mixture and mix well. Pour the contents in a bottle and store in cool place. Use daily as your normal body wash.

Olive and Honey Body Wash

Take 1 cup distilled water, 1 tsp citric acid (to prevent bacterial growth in your bodywash), 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp honey, 1-1/2 cup liquid castile soap, 30 drops of your preferred essential oil. In a bowl whisk your oil, honey and citric acid together. Add castile soap in the mix, whisking to combine everything until blended and smooth. Drop in your essential oils and fold in with a spoon or spatula. Store the mixture in a bottle out of direct sunlight and shake before each use.

Lemongrass Body Wash

Take 1. 4-ounce bar soap, 2-3 cups distilled water, 1 tablespoon glycerine and 10 drops of lemongrass essential oil. Grate the bar soap and then add this grated soap in distilled water in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Turn off the heat, add glycerin and essential oil to the mixture and stir. Allow it to cool before pouring into your container.

Shea and Aloe Vera Body Wash

Put 1 cup unscented shampoo, 1/2 tbsp. of shea butter and 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel in a microwave safe bowl. Heat these ingredients in the microwave for 1 minute, stirring every 15 seconds. Add 25 to 30 drops of skin-safe essential oil to your body wash. You can opt for lavender for relaxation or peppermint to revitalize. Allow it to cool before pouring into your container.

Essential Oil Body Wash

Mix 4tbs of aloe vera gel in a cup of unscented liquid soap in your mixing bowl, stirring to combine. Add 3-4 drops each of tangerine oil, grapefruit oil and coriander oil, stir well. Add 3-4 drops of lavender oil and sufficient food colouring last. Stir for 1 minute and then place this herbal body wash in a bottle and use it instead of soap during your bath or shower.

    Very good post, I would love to try them but I have a problem of not finding liquid castile soap In New Delhi, else we can make our own shampoos and body washes without the overload of chemicals.

  4. Amazing recipes era, i have been trying to go toxic free from a long time but am having trouble getting shea butter and castile oil here in hyderabad. I have tried some online sites but they only take orders in bulk. Could you please help me out if you know of any sites from where i can get them. 😀
