Silk is a delicate fabric and should be handled with care but silk has tendency to release dirt quickly and does not always require dry cleaning.
• Unless the tag on your silk fabric recommends dry cleaning, it should be avoided as dry cleaning will shrink certain types of silk.
• You need to be gentle while washing silk and can use very cold water to wash it with very mild detergent. You can also add a few drops of hair conditioner to the water to keep the silk
soft and flexible.
• Silk has a tendency to get yellow overtime so you can add ½ cup of vinegar to the rinse water to prevent yellowing.
• Do not dry silk under the sun because that will lead to fading of colours.

Leather tends to pick up a lot of dirt. It does not come cheap and require lot of caring and handling.
• You can just use a damp cloth to wipe the excess visible dirt off your leather outfit.
• You can machine wash leather with cold water on the smallest load setting. There are special detergents specifically made to wash leather. You can get those. If you can’t find them, then you can use any laundry detergent.
• To check whether leather is washable, drop a few spots onto an inconspicuous spot. If it forms droplets, it is okay to wash. If the water gets absorbed into the leather, it can only be dusted and wiped with a slightly damp cloth. (source:wikipedia)

3. Cotton

Cotton is super-durable, so garments can be washed in the machine with any kind of detergent.

• Hot water should be used for white cottons and colder should be use for coloured cottons.

• Use a baby shampoo to wash your delicate cashmere shampoo for best results. This will keep the fabric softer for years to come.
