How To Do Hair Rebonding at Home with Wellastrate Straight System Kit

Hello butterflies,

Rebonding has become an addictive habit now, not actually with me, but with all the ladies. Once you get it done, you always want to do it again. As I said, I do rebonding at home, so I bought this kit from Wella. I have used this kit before and got amazing results. There are two variants, one is the mild one that is for chemically treated hair and the intense one for 30% bleached hair and natural hair. But ultimately mild does not give very good results as it does leave the hair a bit wavy and does not straight out all the kinks. So, I will give you a little detail on how to use this product and what effects it causes to the hair.

How+To+Do+Hair+Rebonding+at+Home+with+Wellastrate+Straight+System+Kit

Price:

Rs. 450 for 2 treatments, 100 ml each.

Product Description:

They have given a long pamphlet mentioning how to use the product, for what time it should be left, important tips, and do’s and don’ts. The list is very long that I cannot write it in the review or else you guys will have to wait a day to read the review.

Wellastrate straightening kit 2

Ways To Use Wellastrate Straightening Kit ( I have shortened the steps and wrote it in my own way as that becomes easy for everyone to read):

Wellastrate straightening kit 3

1. Wash your hair and blow dry it completely.

2. You get those boards from Wella itself which you place under the hair. Partition your hair into 4 parts and apply the straightening cream strand by strand and use four boards, one for backside hair, one for right side, one for left and the fourth one if you have bangs or fringe.

3.  Now, comb each hair and place them on the boards, they will automatically stick to the board, so that the hair become fully straight and comb the kinks or curves if any.

4. Now, you have to sit for an hour with the boards stuck to your hair.  The actual time mentioned for bleached hair is 15-20 minutes, but I don’t get all straightened hair in that time, so I keep it for an hour. Make sure to apply 2 cms away from the scalp as you don’t want it to go inside your scalp and if it goes inside, it would cause hair fall.

5. Remove the boards and wash the hair after an hour with lukewarm water and then blow dry.  You will have really really bad hair but that is because of the chemical treatment and do not get scared, the neutralizer has still its work to do.

Wellastrate straightening kit 4

6. Now, take your straightening iron and keep the temperature around 180 degrees. Now, take very small strands and straighten each strand perfectly for 3 times and do it for all your hair.

7. Now, apply the step 2 that is the neutralizer in the same way as you did with the first step (the straightening cream) and leave it for an hour again.

8. Wash it after an hour and blow dry it and you are done with the rebonding process.

Wellastrate straightening kit 5

9. Now, do not clip you hair or put them behind your ears as it may develop curves and do not even apply water.  Wash your hair after 3 days with your shampoo and conditioner and you will have gorgeously straightened hair.

My Experience with Wellastrate Straight System Kit:

I have been rebonding my hair at home only, so I bought this kit. This kit contains a straightening cream, a neutralizing cream and a pamphlet of instructions. The straightening cream is a bit thick in consistency like the conditioners and has a very strong smell which actually irritates the nose and eyes at times, but that’s how all the chemical treatments are done.  People who have rebonded their hair might be knowing the way these creams smell. It comes in white colour and is easy to apply, but you have to put on gloves while doing it and you need at least one person to do the entire process for you as you can’t do it yourself and I love my mom :P The neutralizer is also white in colour and is less thick in consistency than the straightening cream and also the smell is a little less strong. The consistency of this is like the shampoos. This kit gave me amazing results and it did what it promised. It fully straightened my hair, actually poker straight.  There was not even a single curve in my hair, although if we use the mild one, the curves will be still spotted. It also conditioned my hair and did not leave them rough.

Straight Hair

It did not even cause excess damage excluding the damage that this process causes. It will damage the hair a little as it a chemical treatment but the creams did not cause any further damage.  The damage was less as compared to the damage I noticed in my hair when I got it done at the parlour as they use excessive chemicals, but sadly, the results turn out to be same either ways. The product only caused me 450 bucks which is like a penny for the beautiful hair it gave me. Each tube is a 100 ml one, so was almost enough for my hair and doing it at home did not make any difference as I am doing this at home for the past 3-4 years, but yes, you need to take care and also the person doing it for you should do it in the right way. Even if you don’t do rebonding at home, you can tell your stylist to use this one as this will give you perfect straight hair.

Pros of  Wellastrate Straight System Kit:

  • The quantity in the tubes are enough for the length (hair) I have.
  • Made my hair very very straight.
  • Did not leave any curves behind.
  • Costs just a few bucks.
  • Can be done at home, you don’t need to go to the parlour.
  • Comes with a pamphlet that will answer all your questions.
  • Rebonding will last for a year with this kit.
  • No excess damage due to the creams.
  • Did not make my hair rough but that depends on hair type as well.

Cons of  Wellastrate Straight System Kit:

  • The kit does not contain the boards required for the rebonding process.
  • The kit does not contain gloves mandatory for the rebonding process.
  • One box might not be enough if you have your hair 5-6 cm longer than me.

Will I Repurchase/Do I Recommend  Wellastrate Straight System Kit?

Yes of course, I will be using this one whenever I want to straighten my hair permanently and I know this idea of doing rebonding hair at home would not be okay for everyone, but if you are comfortable with it, then use this one, it will give you what you need.

I desperately wanted to ask you for this but no idea how to contact you..
You have saved my 10k.. love you for this :)
every year i have to get my hair re bonded as i cannot live without it.
I have 4 questions:
1) Which straightener i should buy for this? i have Nova which is not worth for heavy hair.
2) From where will i get boards and this cream?
3) As per “5. Remove the boards and wash the hair after an hour with lukewarm water and then blow dry. ”
I have to keep it for an hour and then remove boards and wash my hair or after removing boards i have to keep hair for an hour and then wash it off?
Sorry for confusion!! :(
4) Parlor wale takes around 5-6hours in this whole procedure, we just have to keep these creams for an hour each??

Thanks in advance

Awwwww *thankyou* *thankyou* sooo much Neha *pompom* *pompom*
Here are the answers:
1. Remington is the straightener which i use, costs around 2k… the best i feel in the market at that price … you buy that and you will surely never regret it pakka… i have used Nova and agreed it does not do a very good job but remington will straighten the curliest hair as well…
2. I bought the board and the cream from a local shop only but possibility that all the local shops don’t stock it… if you stay here in mumbai thn beauty shop would be the best one… or any big beauty stores.!!
3. See you apply the cream strand by strand and stick them on the board , let it be on the board for an hour because it will keep our hair straight , then after an hour remove the boards and wash your hair…
4. yes i know even i was shocked to know that, but this process took me 4 hours… i don’t know why they keep it for soo long.. on the pamphlet it was written only 15 mins but i was smart too keep it for an hour lol *happydance* *happydance*

I had coloured my hair in December 2012. Now my roots are black while ends are brown. Will it give the same results?

Reply

saloni..!! June 10, 2013 at 5:02 pm

yess Avanti me too have coloured hair similarly *pigtail* and it will give the same results but it will damage the hair a bit at the ends and make it frizzy for a few days *haan ji* because of the colour but will proper maintenance it will look less damaged.. and when you apply the stragihtening cream you hair will be volumized and then apply neutralizer hair will become thoda thin and very straight.. but after 3 days when you wash it it will mix up and give you nice pretty looking hair *pigtail* telling you all this so that you don’t get scared when you actually notice these things *hihi* *hihi*

Reply

saloni..!! June 10, 2013 at 4:44 pm

*thankyou* *thankyou* sooo much Pallavi… *puchhi* yes you can use a milder version but it is for people who have chemically treated their hair before… if you haven’t treated your hair then go for the intense one… *happydance* but depends totally upon you which one do you want to go for… mild one may leave behing little curves and if that isn’t a prob then you can use the milder one as well *hifive* *hifive* *happydance* *pigtail*

*thankyou* *thankyou* sooo much Shivani.. *hifive* me saving 10k from 5 years lol *hihi* *hihi* professional stylists recommend some special shampoo but it actually does not matter.. you can use the ones you want but which are specially formulated for straightened hair… *haan ji* *haan ji* try matrix opticare ka shampoo and conditioner together once.. does amazing job for rebonded hair *happydance* *happydance* although if you are comfortable with the one you use then continue with the same one *hifive*

Hey elizabeth… actually even i dyed my hair recently and i used the intense one and nothing happened… so you can either use the mild or the intense one will not make much of a difference.. but the mild one may leave some curves and the intense one will not… *pompom* *pompom* and its advisable if you don’t add anything to these creams as they are risky chemicals and a different reaction may take place if you add something to them… *haan ji* hope this helped *happy dance*

Hiii…I straightned my hairs 1 yr 8 months back..and after an aprox of 1 yr, I started facing the problem of regrowth..I wanted to get the rebonding done but it was not possible as I shifted to a place called Sichar, Assam. Then I took the initiative of doing it at home as here I have no faith in parlors..I brought the wellastate and did all the steps as you wrote but I only kept it for 15 to 20 min as was written in the wellastrte and not gor 1 hours..I have not used the board as you have written..I used a plastic board which I found in my cupboard..and after using the neutrilizer I washed it off by using shampoo and applied conditioner..are all this the reason that my hair was not straightened? Hieeee see in the last step you do not need to shampoo just wash off with lukewarm water, apply a serum n blowdry it *hifive* see its like if you have curly n thick hair then it becomes difficult to do it at home..n do keep it for a longer time..because possibilty that it might not grasp in 20 mins…n yes do use boards specially desgned for them..they just costed me like 200 bucks…if you dont get it in a local shop then ask some parlour lady n follow all the steps and you will get redults for sure *hifive* *happydance*

Hello there, very interesting procedure…. I like it. And I had once rebonding my hair last february and up to now still straight but it started to grow from my scalp in about an inches now. And it doesnt look good. Now i need this procedure and definitely want to do it my own. So thanks for this tips. BUT, where can i buy this kind of products. Am here in Scotland. What other products do you recommend other than Wella….

Thanks a milion

Gemma i thinnk it will be readily available in big stores for sure *happy dance* *happy dance* and most of the stores have such rebonding kits and they will suggest you a good one too *happydance* *happydance* and if you don’t get any then try for loreal xtenso… that is available everywhere *happy dance* *happy dance* but first search for kits *happy dance* *happy dance* hope this helped *happydance*

I used this and accidentally put it on my scalp. Now my hair falls. Will it grow back or it’ll stay thag way permanently due to damage hair? Kind of worried now

Ohhoooooi mentioned not to put in on scalp…has to be 1 cm away… hair fall can be reduced with proper oiling and maintaining your hair… don’t worry the hair grows back normally *puchhi* *puchhi* *puchhi*
