Gold in Beauty Treatments and My Sister’s Gold Collection
Gold has been used in beauty treatments since time immemorial and still continues to maintain that popularity. Gold is such a precious and desirable metal that many of us (at least me) would check out anything that has “gold” written on it. Nowadays, mentioning, “gold” on beauty products has become a marketing strategy of sorts with every other brand disguising cheap glitter particles in their products as “gold dust” and “gold particles” to attract consumers. Everything from facial kits to serum, day cream, night cream, and everything in between claims to have the goodness of gold.
Why Is Gold So Sought-After In Beauty Treatments?
Gold is believed to rejuvenate cells. Since, it is a soft malleable metal, it is believed to be easily absorbed by skin. I had read somewhere that gold increases collagen production and slows down the breakdown of elastin. Gold treatments give a much-needed lift to dull skin by increasing blood circulation and reducing free radicals in the skin.
Apart from including gold in beauty treatments, certain Ayurvedic concotions are made with gold dust or swarna bhasma. Swarna Bhasma when taken internally acts against depression. Gold dust is also used to treat a medical condition called as rheumatoid arthritis and also certain nervous system problems. Gold dust is also used for reducing body weakness and preventing early aging.
Gold is believed to restore the elastin fibers which are responsible for the youth and the elasticity of the skin. Gold is therefore considered to be a potent agent for skin problems such as age spots, sun damage, and lack of suppleness. Gold is also an excellent anti-inflammatory which makes it a very good treatment for skin inflammations. Gold is an excellent anti-ageing agent.
Some extravagant facials by exclusive salons use sheet of pure gold on the face, which lifts the skin and makes it brighter. There is another treatment called gold thread facelift. It is a surgical procedure, in which, a gold framework is inserted under the skin surface with the help of anesthetic injections and it is supposed to stimulate collagen production and reduce wrinkles.
My Sister’s Personal Collection and Some Gifts!!!!
Now, coming to my sister’s personal collection. I am just showing you a glimpse of my sister’s gold and diamond jewelry because I was not able to click most of my sister’s jewelry because she felt it would be kind of “showing off,” which she loathes. My sister buys a lot of gold, having said that, my sister is not someone who wears a lot of jewelry. She is a minimalist who considers, “less is more” when it comes to wearing jewelry. The only reason she buys gold is because she and her husband think it is a good investment other than buying land. So, here, I am showing you people just a few pieces from my sister’s jewelry collection and yeah she gifted me one pair of jhumkas because she hates jhumkas:methinks: 😐 😐 😐 😐
All of my sister’s ornaments are 916 hallmarked 22-carat gold (just like mine ).
First, I will start with this heavy necklace that she got recently. It has enamel and minakari work and can be worn as a single piece with no other neck pieces along with it.
My sister collects single chains for everyday wear because single chains can be worn on both Indian outfits as well as western outfits.
This is an unique lightweight necklace made of cute peppercorn like gold beads.
Screw Bangles, just like the screw bangles that I own, my sister too has got similar wide screw bangles.
These bangles have kind of zig-zag design and look so lovely.
Wide Screw bangles.
Daily wear bangles, she had 8 of these, she gifted 2 of them to her mother-in-law.
Wide screw bangles again with enamel work.

As I mentioned earlier, my sister likes to wear only studs.

Since my sister hates jhumkas and since she knows that I love them, she gifted me a pair of gold jhumkas with white stones.
I gifted my mom this set of earrings just recently.
