It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Airbrush Silk Pressed Finishing Powder Review

Hope all of you are doing fine and enjoying IMBB updates. Today, I am here to talk about a product which had been my go-to beauty hack throughout my Vegas trip. I have tried many products from It Cosmetics and I really like their innovative products with concepts, though most of the time, the products do not live completely up to their great claims, but they sure do manage to win our attention every time.  I noticed a sound hype about their “Bye Bye Pores Micro Finish Loose Powder hence when they launched the pressed version of Bye Bye pores, I had to get it. I am glad that I bought this pressed powder though I have come across much better oil-absorbing, mattifying and pore-refining powders. Nevertheless it sure is good for oily, combination skin in some aspects. So, let’s talk in detail about It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Airbrush Silk Pressed Finishing Powder!

My Experience with It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Airbrush Silk Pressed Finishing Powder:

The pressed silk finishing powder comes in a sleek black compact packaging with attached mirror and sponge applicator located in separate compartments beneath the powder, pretty much to my liking. I have already washed the sponge thrice and it never showed any damage or other mess while washing/drying.  Overall, I really adore its packaging which is pretty user friendly, hygienic and travel friendly as well.

The “Bye Bye Pores Pressed Powder” is available in the shade “Translucent,” which is a bright off-white finely milled powder in pressed finish.  I think it is more suitable for mostly fair/pale/medium skin tones and not everyone! It feels buttery soft on the skin when I swipe it with a sponge or face powder brush. The sponge applicator is quite soft and not harsh on my skin.  But it gets dirty pretty quickly, being white in color.

I usually prefer the sponge applicator included for better coverage as it gives me sheer to medium coverage whereas using a face brush helps to get airbrush finish over foundation and/or over bare skin for no-makeup days. I love how it instantly absorbs oil off my face the moment I dab it on skin without looking cakey or settling into my pores and/or fine lines. It never highlights nasty fine lines around my jaw line or eyes while it immediately blurs my open pores to such an extent that I need no foundation as I am good to go with a smoothing primer for the day.

However my concern is about the white cast that it imparts on my pale skin which looks like I am wearing makeup even with a simple dab of this finishing powder. Though the issue is more likely to arise with sponge applicator and not with a big fluffy face brush because such a brush would blend the powder to almost invisibility, but then, it also means that I am not getting desired coverage on bare skin. Moreover, when I use it over Make Up For Ever Smoothing Primer (which already gives a luminous glow), this powder seems more like a sheer cast on the skin, which is well visible even in photographs.

Hence even a little amount goes a long way I feel. After I learnt about makeup layering through IMBB, I also started experimenting with layers as in putting on this Bye Bye Pores Powder first on bare moisturized skin followed by primer.  Then, swiping a gentle touch of pressed powder followed by either finish powder or makeup.  I have seen that my makeup does stay for longer while applying it first on bare skin followed by other products.

I also get hours of shine-free clear skin whenever I use it beneath and over my makeup. However, on its own, it does not seem much efficient in controlling oil as I can notice oil on my face after 5-6 hours, but still, it is better than other oil-absorbing powders I have tried, it’s not the best though.

I am more happy to see that it never clogged my pores, did not aggravate my acne condition.  It gently imparts a luminous glow and shine-free finish to my skin. I believe this powder is certainly suitable for every skin type, even beauties with dry skin as well as very oily skin. I just feel that it could have been a tad bit softer in pigmentation than to impart a cast to be my HG face powder. I might not get it again as I have lots of face powders in line and this will take a decade to finish off, but I will definitely recommend this face powder to everyone.

Pros of It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Airbrush Silk Pressed Finishing Powder:

• A lightweight pressed powder formulated with a number of beneficial ingredients like peptides, collagen amino acids, camellia sinensis extract, etc.
• It is formulated without parabens and talc.
• The sponge applicator is easily washable and dries fast hence no mess of changing the applicator sponge every time.
• The powder is buttery soft on the skin whether you use it with a fluffy brush or sponge applicator.
• It instantly absorbs shine off my skin without drying out my sensitive skin and/or accentuating any further dryness.
• It does not aggravate the condition condition, does not cause breakouts.
• When you are using with a sponge applicator, it efficiently blurs my pores and minor flaws to the extent that I am good to go with a primer or simply bare skin.
• When used with a fluffy brush, it imparts an air-brush finish on makeup with a sheer cast and keeps shine at bay.
• Capable of controlling shine for quite a few hours.
• Using it beneath makeup certainly increases the wear time of makeup, also great for quick touch-ups during busy hours.
• It is suitable for every skin type as it neither dries out the skin nor leads to clogged pores.
• Quite hygienic, user friendly, and travel-friendly packaging.

Cons of It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Airbrush Silk Pressed Finishing Powder:

• It does contain chemicals like mica silica which might bother sensitive skin types.
• Does not help much with oil control.
• It imparts a sheer white cast on skin.
• I doubt whether this powder will work for tanned/dark skin beauties.
• The sheer cast is visible on bare skin when you use in excess with a sponge hence using in moderation with a fluffy brush is advisable.

Well, my matter of concern is visible pores, which are well taken care of by this pressed powder hence I can live with its minor cons. However, I cannot deny the truth that there are many better products in the market considering that it has average oil-controlling properties. If you have normal, dry, combination skin with open and large pores, then this powder might be your ideal match, preferably for fair/pale/medium skin tone beauties.
