Jeans is one outfit that is both comforting and stylish to have on. Being a staple in most people’s wardrobe it tends to wither in time and gets overused and not properly cared for.

Everyone has atleast a pair of old jeans that are either out of style or no longer fit the personal preference. Mentioned below are few tips that would help you make something useful out of your old jeans:

• If your jeans have worn out around the knees then cut them off and make some stylish jeans shorts.

• You can cut off just a little, re-hem them and turn them into a Capri or long shorts.

• Add some stylish embellishments to jazz up your jeans. Add chains, lace, studs, crystals and various beads to punk up the look. Embroidered designs like swirls and florals that can be sewn onto your jeans for a more fun look.

• Try tie dying them in fun bright colours.

• Rip your faded set of jeans a little and then pair it with a new sweater and some dressy shoes or boots for a real stylish look.

• If you want to rip apart your jeans completely then use them as covers and give a stylish look to your photo frames or albums. Use fabric colours to decorate them further. Never use regular paints, they will wash out or smear when you wash the jeans.

• If you really love craft work then try to make a quilt or jacket out of your old jeans. This project requires time and a lot of effort but the results might surprise you.

• Put your jeans pockets to good use with the quick project that uses a jeans pocket and ribbon to make a little purse.

• The leg of a pair of jeans is the perfect new home for your yoga mat. The shape is ideal for a quick stitching project that will end in a sweet new yoga bag.

Always remember to wash the jeans before making any alterations. You do not want to paint over dirty jeans. That will help the dirt settle in to the fabric and it will never come out when washed.

Jeans are never going to go totally out of style, so have fun updating the ones you have, and never ditch the ones you buy. Sooner or later, they’re going to be in fashion again.
