Last summer, I was on the lookout for a daily moisturizer for my face and instead of doing the customary research on the internet, I trooped to the nearest drugstore and just decided to pick up whatever caught my fancy.  And what caught my eye was this innocuous looking product from Jergens which claimed to be a moisturizer as well as a sunscreen and also claimed to add glow to the face.  I had used a few products from Jergens and have been suitably impressed by them. So, without looking or reading any further, I ended up buying this product. Read on to discover how this fared on me.

My Experience with Jergens Natural Glow Face Daily Moisturizer Sunscreen:

I started applying this product on a daily basis over my freshly cleansed face. It has a medium thick consistency and gets absorbed well. It is pretty lightweight and does not feel greasy on the skin. It has SPF 20 and I like that it does not leave any sticky or whitish residue like many sunscreens.

However, it has a pretty weird chemical smell. The smell hits you when you apply it but fades soon.  After using the product for about a month or so and without any complaints, I decided to look up the internet for more details on the product as the smell was bothering me. That’s when the reality hit me as I read reviews from other US-based reviewers – this product is actually a tanning lotion! I am an Indian and was a newbie in the US when I had picked up this product. The product claims to create a natural-looking color (glow). I interpreted this to mean that it is going to clear up my skin and reveal my natural complexion 😛

I realized that other reviewers were using it to add more “color” to their complexion. Now, like most other Indian ladies, I didn’t want to get tanned 😛 and I am lucky that this product did not tan me despite me using it for a month.

Needless to say, I discontinued to use this product. I am reviewing it today just to make you aware that when you pick up products from the US or other markets, you need to be careful about the claims or you might end up with something totally unwanted.

• Has a SPF 20.

Cons of Jergens Natural Glow Face Daily Moisturizer Sunscreen:

• Weird chemical smell.
• Does not seem to tan or add color to Indian skin tone (though this worked in my favor as I was not looking for one in the first place).
• Contains chemicals.
• Availability in India.

No, I would not buy it at all and I have been more careful in my subsequent purchases.
