Jessica Custom Nail Colour – Mardi Gras Review

Hello Ladies,

Did you all have a good weekend? How is the winter treating you so far? The London winters are in full swing, and the weather is pretty dull with all the rain and winds, *sigh*. A little catchup on Bigg Boss 8 and new pretty nail colours have cheered me up tremendously. The nail colour I am going to be reviewing for you today is by Jessica and is called Mardi Gras. Perfect for some pop of colour to counter the gloominess and darkness that has seemed to engulf us, these past few days here.

My Experience with Jessica Custom Nail Colour – Mardi Gras:

Packaging:

The packaging of this nail colour is the classic Jessica nail colour packaging. The nail colour is packaged in a clear glass bottle, with a black applicator brush. The brush shape is not flat like Sally Hansen, but according to me, it is pretty functional and easy to manoeuvre even when in a rush. The particular shade is labelled underneath the nail colour, I actually prefer Essie’s way of doing things, where the names are labelled on the top, it is easier and faster to find.

Colour:  This colour is an exceptionally beautiful and bright colour, it is essentially a bright orange colour. It is borderlining neon orange, but it is definitely not neon, that’s how bright the colour is. The colour looks absolutely gorgeous on the hands once applied, it actually has the ability of making hands look slightly fairer. The colour is fairly rich and full opacity is achievable with a single coat. I personally do enjoy applying two coats on my nails, since I have that habit inculcated in me by my mum from the very start. The colour comes out slightly brighter and richer when applied with two coats.

Finish:  This nail colour has a gorgeous creme finish, with a beautiful shine; my favorite because you do not need a top coat for a glossy look.

Texture and Consistency:  The consistency of the nail colour formula, like all other Jessica nail paints are of a good quality. They are never too thick to apply on and I have never made use of a nail polish thinner, nor is the formula too runny and never bleeds into my cuticles. This helps those of us who are born clumsy- aka me.

Drying Time:

The formula has a relatively fast drying time, I enjoy that it is quick and easy, since it makes things less messy for people who are slightly impatient. You don’t need to wait for a long time, sitting around to wait for it to dry, I am able to type and study really quickly after applying it.

Staying Power:

I never have the patience of applying a top coat, unless someone is doing my nails at the salon or at home. I usually just wear a top coat when I have a special occasion to attend. On a regular basis, a top coat always is a miss for me, which is really bad if you want an exceptionally long manicure. However, since I change my nail colours every weekend, I don’t need it. So for such cases, I need a good formula nail colour that has the durability to stay on without any top coat. And Jessica never disappoints me in any manner. This nail colour too stays on for a week or even more without at top coat. So kudos to Jessica!
