My Experience with Juice Beauty SPF 30 Oil-Free Moisturizer:

Summer is almost here and the days are longer with pretty harsh sunlight. So, I was looking for a good sunscreen, which would provide good sun protection, without making my skin look/feel oily, and without making me sweat.

That’s when I came across Juice Beauty’s SPF 30 Oil-Free Moisturizer. This has been rated one of the best sunscreens in ewg.org (environmental working group) for its good protection against UVA and UVB rays.

This sunscreen comes in a white squeeze tube with a screw cap. I prefer a flip cap to a screw cap. The product is creamy in consistency and has dense texture. It’s a little task to spread this sunscreen on face. Applying it on a damp face right after washing would make it easier to spread. Also, dotting it over the face helps to blend it easily.

This smells like some herbal product. The smell doesn’t bother after a while.  After application, it leaves a bit of a white cast on the face that settles after a minute, not completely though. This claims to contain non-nano natural mineral zinc oxide, which is why the white cast.

Now, a little insight about non-nano zinc oxide that I learnt from a website. Sunscreens which have higher SPF number and does not give the white cast on face might contain nano particle zinc oxide, which is one tenth of the non-nano version. That fine particle is responsible for the transparency of the sunscreen. That’s why we do not see the white cast when we use such sunscreens. They say that the effect of the nano particles can be harmful to skin. Also, non-nano zinc oxides provide better sun protection over the nano particle zinc oxide.

I have combination skin. Recently, I have been dealing with some dry patches on my face. This sunscreen while providing enough moisture to my problem free area, didn’t help with those dry patches. It kind of accentuated those areas, which is not a good thing. I have to use a light moisturizer below this sunscreen on days when I feel like my skin has some dry patches. Oily skinned beauties can get away with this, but this is an issue for me.

This does not make my t-zone oily and my skin stays matte almost throughout the day.

I do not have blemishes, so I cannot comment about how it performs on blemish-prone skin.

Let me jot down the pros and cons of this product.

Pros of Juice Beauty Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 30:

  • It is a certified organic sunscreen.
  • Free from harmful chemicals.
  • Provides good UVA and UVB protection.
  • Contains many good-for-skin ingredients.
  • Does not make skin oily.
  • Keeps skin matte throughout the day.

Cons of Juice Beauty Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 30:

  • Not enough moisturizing for my combination skin.
  • Hard to spread and takes time to get absorbed.
  • Leaves a slight white cast.
  • Does not smell that great.

Final Word:

If you are looking for a good sunscreen to protect your skin from harsh sun, without having to compromise on the ingredients, do give this a shot. Oily skin beauties can enjoy the full benefit of this product.
