Kama Ayurveda Himalayan Deodar Body Cleanser Review

I love Kama Ayurveda as a brand – a clean, humble, eco-friendly and cruelty free brand that offers excellent quality (Kama hasn’t sponsored this product, IMBB has!). Such brands are more special to me since I have been following Ayurveda to control my medical issues too. I have tried many products by this brand, with the most favorite one and my absolute necessity being their rose water. I wanted to try this particular body cleanser since it is free of parabens and SLES; also was intrigued to find out what deodar smells like.

A mild body cleanser, free of SLES (Sulphates), Paraben and Petrochemicals formulated to gently cleanse skin without stripping its natural oils leaving it soft and radiant. Lemon extract exfoliate dead skin cells and brightens the complexion. Rose extract purifies skin and has anti inflammatory properties. Natural Vegetable based Glycerin moisturises and rejuvenates skin by restoring moisture. Pure Essential oils of Himalayan Deodar refresh & nourish, leaving the skin healthy & toned.

My Experience with Kama Ayurveda Himalayan Deodar Body Cleanser:

The bottle is quintessential Kama plastic bottle with brown and gold accents. I particularly love the way this golden cap looks – very old school and spa like. The stickers on the bottle are also of very good quality as they do not come off even after the bottle gets constantly wet. They also happen to have A to Z details about the product; everything you would ever want to know about this cleanser. It comes with a stopper, which I think is good since it prevents leakage but it irritates me in the shower. I just do not have the patience to open it, especially with wet hands and brittle nails in the shower.

The fragrance of this cleanser is heaven, if you love spa-like fragrances. Some really invigorating and soothing ayurvedic spa like. I am not very good at differentiating and describing fragrances, but I can make out certain notes of lemon and lavender too. It feels very fresh yet warm, very distinct yet very close to my heart. But the kind of fragrance that I would prefer just in showers or during massages. And that is why the fact that it hardly lingers post shower on my skin makes me happy. It is a matter of choice, you could always take a whiff before finalising the product.

The product has a very good consistency. It does not drip nor is it so thick that won’t spread on the skin well. Whether I use a loofah or my hands, it spreads well and forms sufficient lather. In fact I need to use lesser product than TBS or Dove body washes. At INR 975, it’s not a very affordable but it surely is an economical product. I have been using it for some time now and even my sister uses it sometimes, still I have a lot of product left in the bottle. It gives a cooling sensation to the skin as soon as I rinse it (rinsing it isn’t a hard task either, btw).

Coming to the part that matters the most, the performance. It claims that it gently cleanses the skin, and it does that very well. It does not dry out my skin insanely even though I love hot showers and it’s winters. My skin tends to get a little dry during this season, but this cleanser does not aggravate any dryness or roughness as it contains glycerin. It leaves my skin radiant and supple. It has never irritated my skin and it actually feels very healthy. At the end of the day, it is a body cleanser and a darling one to be honest. It feels so good after I take a bath with it, with hot as well as cold water.

It is not a groundbreaking product, but then no body cleanser is. From its most basic job of cleansing to specialised job of nourishing, it excels. At 975, I do not find it a steal but if the fragrance and claims lure you, definitely choose it. It is, as I said earlier, a darling body cleanser. I would now like to try out other products from this range as well as other body cleansers offered by Kama. 🙂
