Kerastase Reflection Bain Chroma Captive Colour Radiance Protecting Shampoo Review

Hi Beauties,

Here is a culmination of results of four months, during which my mother and I have used this and another shampoo; and will be reviewing our experiences. I do not color or chemically treat my hair. As is said in the tresses world, I have got virgin hair. However, I do apply henna on my hair for conditioning purposes only, and it does tend to impart a faint orangish brown color to my hair. My mother, however, does color her hair to keep the grey at bay. I am a total follower of Kerastase products and this time, I got this shampoo, for the two of us.

My Experience with Kerastase Reflection Bain Chroma Captive Colour Radiance Protecting Shampoo:

First of all, let me tell you, that this is not a sulfate-free product.  How Kerastase promotes this shampoo as sulphate free is totally beyond me. Kerastase, I did think better of you!!!

Packaging:  The shampoo comes in a plum-colored plastic bottle, quite the usual for Kerastase. It has a similar color lid, which has to be twisted open to get the product out.  The bottle has a tiny hole for dispensing the product. All details are written on the body of the bottle.

Fragrance and Color:  All Kerastase shampoos have the same white color of the product. The fragrance is mild floral, quite good, and does not overpower the senses. It stays on the hair for a while before disappearing.

Consistency:  It has a creamy consistency, neither very thick nor very runny. It foams up quite well with a very little amount of product. It rinses off easily as well. We have used this with Elixir Ultime Mask and the results were really very good.

Results:

This shampoo is mainly for color-treated hair, hence supposed to be quite gentle on hair. However, this does contain sulfates and silicones, so one needs to keep this in mind.  The shampoo is very good for normal as well as color-treated hair. Normally, my mother has good quality color for 7-10 days, after which the color starts fading, and almost fades completely by 2 months. Using this shampoo, she could definitely see her hair color lasting for quite a long time. This shampoo did not strip the color off her hair. With three times a week of shampooing, she could see around 60%-70% color intact at the end of two months.

Apart from this, the shampoo makes the hair very soft indeed. It has not caused any excessive hair fall. It has not made my dry hair overtly dry or scrunchy, even in the winter months. I cannot say that this has decreased my hair fall, in fact my hair fall has been the same – that is normal. However, it does help in detangling the hair, so that way, I have lost less hair during brushing. It does not lead to any product build up. It cleanses the hair and scalp fairly well, and does not make my hair squeaky clean, which is how I like it.

Kerastase Reflection Bain Chroma Captive Colour Radiance Protecting Shampoo

Overall, both my mom’s and my hair has been liking this product a lot 😛 My only grouch is that Kerastase has falsely promoted this product as a sulphate-free one.

Pros of Kerastase Reflection Bain Chroma Captive Colour Radiance Protecting Shampoo:

  • Sturdy packaging.
  • Nice, mild floral fragrance.
  • Protects and prolongs the color of the hair.
  • Adds shine to hair.
  • Detangles the hair.
  • Does not lead to excess hair loss.
  • Does not cause product build up.
  • Does not dry out my hair.
  • Makes hair soft, smooth and silky.

Cons of Kerastase Reflection Bain Chroma Captive Colour Radiance Protecting Shampoo:

  • Not sulphate free.
  • Expensive.
  • Limited availability.

IMBB Rating:

4/5 (points deducted for misleading the people).

Would I Recommend Kerastase Reflection Bain Chroma Captive Colour Radiance Protecting Shampoo?

Yes, I will. For all those who color their hair and those who do not, this one is a pretty good shampoo. In spite of the sulfate content, this one does protect and prolong the color of hair, and adds shine to the hair.
