Khadi Amla & Bhringraj Ayurvedic Shampoo Review

Khadi Amla & Bhringraj Ayurvedic Shampoo Review

I purchased this product two weeks back to combat my hair fall issues. These are perennial, not just monsoon-induced. Apart from taking stock of my diet, I have been looking up shampoos to deal with hair fall. Any suggestions are most welcome, especially if they are in the herbal category. Till then, let’s see what this product has to offer you.

Khadi Amla Bhringraj shampoo review

What The Product Claims:

Product claims are stated in the picture above along with the directions for use. As you see, it has three golden ingredients for hair: Amla, Bhringraj and Reetha. These are well-known and time-tested products for beautiful, strong hair. I especially love that it prevents premature greying and feel that it is so much more important than simply good-looking hair.

Ingredients: Amla, Almond oil, Reetha, Bhringraj, Harathki, Reetha, Neem.

Price and Quantity:

Second

Price is amazingly affordable. It is Rs. 80 for 210ml of product.

My Experience with the Product:

I quite like the simple packaging of khadi products. It is minimalistic and no-fuss, which makes you feel that it really works and is not one of those ‘show-off’ products that simply look attractive :). It has a nozzle as you can see in the first picture, which makes for easy handling.

It is deep green in color and the texture is creamy yet not heavy. The quantity I use is a dime size and that does a neat job of removing oil from my hair. I quite appreciate that because in my experience, washing oiled hair can be quite painful unless you are using SLS filled shampoos, which I try to avoid. Anyway, so thumbs up on this front too.
Getting down to brass tacks, I feel very neutrally about this product’s effectiveness. My primary purpose in buying this was to reduce hair fall and provide nourishment to my hair. I don’t see any reduction in hair fall, but in the shampoo’s defense, it does not claim so either. In fact, it doesn’t claim anything, which is elusive.
I find that it dries my hair out a lot; this I don’t like. My hair is all clean and nice, but the frizz is definitely seeing an increase with the usage of this shampoo. Otherwise, this is a pretty mild shampoo.

Third

Pros of Khadi Amla-Bhringraj Shampoo:

1. Value for money
2. Natural, valuable ingredients especially Amla, which is supposed to be *god* for hair
3. Removes oil from oiled hair after single application
4. Easily available across shops in Delhi, haven’t seen this in malls though.

Cons of Khadi Amla-Bhringraj Shampoo:

1. Did not help me with my hair fall
2. Saw an increase in the frizz in the hair and found them dry after each wash. I don’t know if it is monsoon or this shampoo. 
3. No mention of SLS/SLES. I am also not sure if this is the complete list of ingredients or not.

Would I Recommend It?
Not really. Fab india did a similar job for my hair. I find the only consolation while using this product is that all these amazing ingredients are working on your hair and you won’t go grey prematurely 😀 whether you do or not only time will tell. So, I really don’t know if it is placebo effect or actual effect.

Would I Purchase It Again?

No. I want a good hair fall control shampoo and will most probably go in for Sunsilk or Garnier next. I have tried both in the past and had a decent experience with them. If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know, will appreciate it. . Thanks and have a fantastic day ahead!

  1. hey shivani…..bad that you are facing hairfall issues…you can try the patanjali shampoo…its quite effective in combating hairfall…n also try drinking the amla juice from patanjali…it really really works….   n…yeah…nice review….

  2. Somehow khadi shampoos never work for me 🙁 Infact I am yet to discover any shampoo which actually helps me to reduce hairfall…I rather consult a derma if there is too much hairfall..I am using a solution called Mintop which needs to be applied on the scalp area eevryday only about 1 to 2 ml and this is quite effective in reducing hairfall. Hope this helps!

  3. Hey Shivani! Thanks for the review. :))
Try Patanjali’s aloe juice. Patanjali kesh tail and hair cleanser(shampoo). I have used them and experiemced a drastic decrease in hair loss.

  4. Hi Shivani, nice review.. I however feel that no shampoo will actually work wonders if your diet is not proper. Amla rasayans are good as taps mentioned. Also I use this home made oil which works for me –> In an Iron kadai, heat coconut oil, henna, methi seeds, curry leaves (helps in preventing greying), amla powder. Heat it till the oil smokes and then let it remain in the iron kadai overnight to cool. In the morning filter and store it. I use this oil thrice in a week. Before applying it, I take the required quantity in a steel bowl and mix a little castor oil to it. Warm this mixture a little. I leave this oil for about 30 mins and then wash my hair with an anti dandruff shampoo. I just prepare this oil to last me for about a week or two. I prefer to use fresh batch every week .. Its tedious and messy but then hard work pays 🙂 . The days I feel lazy … I just heat coconut oil, methi seeds and castor oil and apply that..even that helps.

  5. First few washes wasn’t impressed left my hair feeling very dry and easily got tangled, five washes later noticed how my hairs shine had changed and my hair over all look and felt better. My hair seems like it’s slowly getting thicker as well! Which is a much enjoyed bonus!
