My Experience with Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Pressed Powder:

Packaging:  This pressed powder comes in a sleek glossy black compact with a nice mirror inside. There is puff provided which is very smooth and silky to touch. Though I hardly use puffs to apply powder, it is still a nice addition to have to touch up on-the-go. My preferred method of applying the powder is with a wispy brush which helps me not pick up too much which could result in cakiness.

The powder puff is separated with a small film inside which I do not like. I would have preferred the puff to have its own compartment as I would not like to keep a dirty and used puff on the powder itself if I ever happen to lose that separator.

Texture/Feel on skin:  This powder is very smooth and finely milled. It feels super airy and lightweight and does not have any thickness to it. This quality helps it to never feel cakey on the skin like how powders usually can. This powder does applies smoothly and evenly and I never found it stick to my dry patches or accentuate it. I also found it to smooth over and blur my pores and not accentuate it.

Shade and Finish:  This powder is divided into two sections – 3/4th of the compact is a very pale baby pink powder while the rest 1/4th is white powder. I do not understand the reason for this uneven distribution. But regardless, when applied on to the skin, it goes on transparent and provides just a hint of brightness. I love using this to set my under eye concealer as it helps keep it crease free and oil free all day. Even though it is mostly transparent when applied, I still would not recommend this to those with darker/duskier skin tones as it may cause you to look a little ashy.

The finish this powder gives is smooth and velvety matte. It absorbs all oil without drying out my skin or making it look too flat. It doesn’t provide any coverage. It does not look too powdery on the skin, it just melts into the skin.

Staying Power:  Whenever I have used this powder to set my makeup, I find I have to do very minimal touchups during the day. My eye area tends to get very oily and shiny whenever I wear makeup and this powder helps keep the area the shine free all day.

Also, I could not detect any fragrance.

Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Pressed Powder

Overall, this is a very good product and the brilliant quality is evident. This is one of those powders I have no hesitation in recommending to those with dry skin (and they will relate with me when I say how difficult it can be for us dry skin beauties to find a powder which will not accentuate those dry patches). It effectively mattifies and acts as a brilliant setting powder for prolonging your makeup.

It does come with a high price tag which could be the only con, but other than that, I highly recommend this.

Pros of Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Pressed Powder:

  • Prolongs the wear of my makeup.
  • Does not accentuate dry patches.
  • Smooths over and blurs the appearance of pores.
  • No scent.
  • Goes on translucent, hence it will suit most skin tones.

Cons of Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Pressed Powder:

  1. Ya totally agree! It is so difficult to find that perfect powder for dry skin. I like how well it blends with your skin, and that puff is actually a cutie.
