Korres Japanese Rose Body Butter Review

Korres Japanese Rose Body Butter Review

Quite a few of us have a love-hate relationship with the winter. On one hand bulky sweaters conceal fat rolls and the snow hides dirty roads, on the other the layers of itchy clothes coupled with the harsh cold can make our skin dry, flaky and just plain gross. I’m constantly building up a beauty arsenal to protect my skin against the onslaught of the freezing winter. Korres’ Wild Rose face cream has been a favorite of mine and their body butters are a recent addition to my collection of winter beauty products.

Product Background and Information
Manufactured in Greece, Korres products are a favorite among beauty junkies for their natural ingredients and high quality. The company was founded 20 years ago by George Korres, a Greek homeopath, whose passion for natural ingredients has led to the brand’s international success. Korres offers a range of bath and beauty products and is known for its safe and effective creams, lotions and lip butters.

According to Sephora, the exclusive dealer for Korres products in the U.S., the body butters are “beautifully scented…enriched with shea butter and quince extract to soften, moisturize, and rejuvenate the skin. Sunflower, almond, and avocado oils nourish…to improve elasticity and smoothness.”

These butters are packaged in 7.95 oz. tubes which are adorned with pretty, abstract artwork. The black and red colors on the packaging remind one of red roses. I’m not quite sure what the material of the tube is, but the twist-off cap is made out of plastic and doesn’t come off by itself.

The body butters are formulated WITHOUT the following harmful and potentially-carcinogenic ingredients: Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs and Triclosan

Ingredients
Water (Eau), Cetearyl Alcohol, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Glycerin, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Squalane, Dicaprylyl Ether, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Cetearyl Glucoside, Fragrance (Parfum), Ceteareth-33, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Potassium Sorbate, Lactic Acid, PEG-8, Alcohol, Tocopherol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Pyrus Cydonia Seed Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Ascorbic Acid, Citric Acid.

My Experience with Korres Japanese Rose Body Butters
I use these butters mainly when I’m going out somewhere because they have a pleasing and long lasting fragrance and because, honestly, they’re too expensive for everyday use. Rose is not the first note that comes to my mind when I smell it, but overall it’s a floral and sweet smell. I find these butters to be hydrating without any greasiness. My skin quickly absorbs the butter and feels soft and supple soon afterward. The butter’s consistency is somewhere between a cream and lotion. It’s not watery and yet isn’t as thick as other “body butters” that I’ve used before.

Along with the way it makes my skin feel, I love using this body butter because I know that it doesn’t contain ingredients that are harming my body. Being Indian, I realize the value of homeopathic ingredients and feel that I’m doing my skin some good by using this body butter. Furthermore, this is one of the rare creams/lotions that seem to work even after you’ve washed it off. I’ve noticed that whenever I use this on my arms and legs, they remain soft even after a shower. I think this is primarily because these butters are Water and Oil based unlike other lotions and creams, which are usually Mineral Oil based (usually derived from petroleum and are unable to penetrate the skin).

PROS

  •  No harmful Ingredients. Made with all natural, guilt-free ingredients!
  •  The Fragrance. I’m a sucker for good smells. These butters have a pleasant, floral smell that lasts and lasts.
  •  Hydration without oiliness. The butters penetrate and hydrate the skin instead of just sitting on top of the skin and lubricating it. You can trust your skin to always be soft and never oily and greasy.
  •  The packaging. I love the artwork on the tubes. This is an updated version of the packaging and quite honestly and major upgrade from how they used to be.

CONS

  •  The PRICE! I cannot stress enough on how guilty I feel for buying these. They work so well, yet the 30 dollars/ 1600 rupees for one tube is almost unjustifiable. For now, these remain a guilty pleasure. I’ve heard Korres products are very cheap in Greece. I like to think I’m doing the Greek economy some good by paying such an exorbitant price for these : )

@ Rati — Nope not tried guava yet, but it’s next on my list. Yeah, these are soooo expensive, I like to think I’m helping the ailing Greek economy by buying these 😛

      @ Esha — Thanks, they totally are… they’re super luxurious, too 🙂

  3. These sound really good and wonderful but the price is another matter. Will look out for them on a trip abroad. Nice review and no one could describe winter in a better way

    1. Thanks, Nidhi 🙂
I feel less guilty about paying a lot for these because I like the company’s values. They’re all natural and don’t test on animals 🙂
