Korres Wild Rose Face and Eye Serum Review

Korres Wild Rose Face and Eye Serum Review

Hey Gorgeous Gals,

I was going to start this post with a little introduction to serums. However, after witnessing the overwhelming response to the recent Clarins giveaway, I am convinced you all know plenty about serums and all the good they can do; I sure picked up a lot of information from there! Today, I wanted to share a quick review of Korres’ Wild Rose Face and Eye Serum. Yes, face and eye, you read that right. This baby makes pretty big promises, now let’s check out if it lives up to them!

Product Background Description:

Korres was founded 20 years ago by George Korres, a Greek homeopath, whose expertise in homeopathy and passion for natural ingredients has led to the brand’s worldwide success. Korres leads among natural cosmetics companies because of its high quality products. Most popular among these products is their Wild Rose line, of which this face and eye serum is a part.

According to Sephora, this serum “brightens skin, smoothes fine lines, and evens the skin texture” How does it do this? Well, it contains wild rose extract and the “ultra-concentrated vitamin C found in wild rose helps to repair skin discolorations while boosting skin’s brightness and radiance.” In addition to the rose, “Baobab tree extract, in combination with a wheat proteins agent, provides an instant firming and line-smoothing effect and has been clinically proven to considerably reduce the number, depth, and length of wrinkles” Sounds pretty impressive, right?

The serum comes packaged in a plastic tube with a pump.  The packaging is pretty uninspiring, no pretty artwork or whatsoever. Could have at least put a picture of a rose on it, Mr. George Korres! It’s funny how when some brands make it big, they start to skimp out on the simplest of things.

Price:

$41 (roughly Rs. 2200) for a 1.1 oz. tube.

My Experience with Korres Wild Rose Face and Eye Serum:

I’m a big fan of natural beauty products and a sucker for anything that smells like roses. So, I was naturally drawn toward Korres’ Wild Rose serum. I have combination acne-prone skin, which is oily in certain places and dry in others. In other words, I’m the perfect guinea pig for testing cosmetics products! Anyway, back to the serum, which I picked up after suffering a mild sticker shock. At $41/tube, this ain’t cheap. But because it promised to work on my eyes AND face, I decided it was worth the moolah.

This was the first serum I have ever used and the first thing I noticed was its light, almost runny, texture. The texture seems to aid the product’s absorption, since my skin drinks this up within minutes after application. I usually use two pumps for my face and then two tiny pumps to apply around each eye. The serum instantly smoothes and hydrates the skin. My skin feels soft, plump to the touch and brighter instantly. Whenever I wear this at night, I wake up to noticeably improved skin and decreased redness. What impresses me most how easily makeup glides over the serum. I’ve noticed it’s been really easy for me to apply concealer and eyeliner around and on my eyes when I use this. No tugging or friction on the sensitive skin is a major plus.

Where this product disappoints is the smell and long-term results. The brightness lasts only for the time I have this on, it doesn’t seem like it’s fixing my skin from the inside. Also, while the product prevents dry skin and acne, I don’t feel like it is fading my scars or targeting the cause of the dry spots. The smell, although it dies down pretty quickly, is rosey, but plasticy. Unlike other Korres Wild Rose products, the serum smells a little synthetic. Once the product is on for a while, the smell becomes less intense and much more pleasant.

Pros of Korres Wild Rose Face and Eye Serum:

  • Safe ingredients.
  • Absorbs quickly.
  • Works quickly.  Provides instant smoothness and brightness.
  • Prevents breakouts.
  • Works really well as primer for foundation.
  • Works on both face and eyes.

Cons of Korres Wild Rose Face and Eye Serum:

  • Doesn’t seem very effective long term.
  • Smells pretty bad for the first few minutes you have it on.
  • Plastic container; could be potentially harmful.
  • Boring, medicine-like packaging.

Bottom Line:

If you’re looking for a primer that delivers instant results and is safe to use, get this. I use this in conjunction with other products and feel that’s the best way to go. I will repurchase, but only to use as a primer.

Very nice and detailed review Deviee.. 🙂

    1. Hey Parita! It works on puffy eyes. It’s actually really cooling when you apply it around the eyes. Doesn’t do anything for dark circles 🙁
