Kryolan Dual Finish Powder Review

Hi everyone,

My MAC Studio Finish Foundation Powder got over a few months ago and I started looking for an alternative for two main reasons. Firstly, because I love buying and reviewing new products for IMBB (Mom, I swear I do not waste my money on makeup… I am doing this just for reviewing :P). Also, MAC base products always give me zits and small bumps. I love using MAC and I have no complaints against their lip and eye products, but for some reason, their base products do not work well on my skin. They oxidize a bit and also I see minor zits and bumps after using the Studio Fix Powder. I asked my friend to get this Kryolan powder as this product looked convincing. Read on further to know my views on Kryolan Dual Finish Powder.

Product Description:
Creamy, soft-feeling make-up in an elegant compact, for moist or dry application. In dry form, this preparation is similar to cream powder and is effective in lightly tinting and shading the skin. This exclusive formula is best applied dry and followed by a moist latex sponge setting and finish for a perfect foundation application. Moist application enables greater covering quality and color intensity on the skin. Dual Finish can be gently removed with AquaCleans, or effortlessly with soap and water.
Price:
$34.50 for 10 gm.

My Experience with Kryolan Dual Finish Powder:

The powder comes in a compact-like packaging, packed in a paper carton that has all details mentioned at the back. The compact has two compartments and a mirror attached to it. The upper compartment contains the compact powder and the lower one has a white, flat sponge applicator. The compact closes with a click and is great for traveling. Overall, the compact is bulky, travel friendly and looks decent.

This is a very smooth, finely milled powder. It is creamy but not very patchy or sticky. It does not feel chalky and has a silky feel to it. It is lighter in feel compared to MAC’s Studio Fix Powder. If applied wet, it sets like a cake foundation which gives coverage without feeling too sticky.

This compact has a pretty good coverage. It feels a little lightweight, so you may think that it is sheer, but when the compact is buffed in, it covers all blemishes and darkness. For heavier scars, you will have to use concealers and color correctors, but it is great to cover imperfections and brighten up the face on an everyday basis.

Kryolan Dual Finish Powder texture

This powder sets into the skin and looks natural if you find the ideal match for your skin. However, the powder is not great if you stay in a hot and humid area. I mean, it does not melt away or feel patchy, but I do not like the way it looks on my skin. It looks a little muddy. I have not used it with a primer or a fixing spray, but my experience with MAC compact was better than this powder.

I am disappointed with the shade range of this compact. Compared to other Kryolan products, this one has limited shade availability. Also, the colors look different in the pan and on skin. The shade that I bought is “OB3.” It looked a lot richer in the pan, but on my skin, it looks very light. I can just use this to highlight my under-eye area.

The staying power is decent. It won’t move till you remove it. Using it wet makes it stay on for longer.

Overall, this is an okay product for me. I won’t repurchase this ever again. I will probably go back to my MAC compact super soon.
