Kylie Jenner Style Decoded

How is your week going so far? Everyone excited for the weekend? Reading Rati’s recent post on Faux Pas inspired me to write an article on a very trendy young teenager, who people forget she is actually a teenager. Mostly because of her dressing sense, I suppose. But that does not take away from the fact that her style is completely awesome. So, I decided to break it down for you lovelies, who seek to imitate or be inspired by her style.

Leather Jackets:  Kylie loves her leather jacket, she pairs them with every single thing. From plaid shirts, dresses, tank tops and shorts. She uses her leather jacket to play her outfit up or down depending on her mood and occasion. If you too want to use your leather jacket so much versatility, try draping the leather jacket on your shoulders rather than conventionally wearing them by slinging your arms in. This gives a really edgy and fashionable look. A leather jacket is perfect for those days when it is not too cold, yet you need something to keep you warm or it can be a style statement by itself. Go for biker leather jackets, to achieve Kylie’s look. The more edgy it is the more better, or you can opt for a plain biker jacket and balance it with the rest of your outfit you are wearing.

Graphic T-shirts:  Graphic T-shirts are a very important part of Kylie’s wardrobe and she balances them superbly well. She leans on colours like blacks and whites (with black detailing). Most of her graphic t-shirts are of bands and brands like Givenchy. Of course, I understand that it might be too expensive for people on a budget. But I know Hill Road in Bandra, has a lot of variety. To wear your graphic t-shirts like Kylie, you can pair them with black leggings, tucked into ripped jeans or even with shorts and skirts.  Go a little bold by pairing your graphic t-shirts with a plaid skirt, definitely goes against the quintessential perception of plaid (the latter two might be a bit to risqué to wear it in India.) But you can definitely achieve the look in full glory with distressed jeans! Will definitely give you that edgy chic look she has.

Ankle Length Boots:  Another one of Kylie’s favourite, I feel as though ankle length boots complete her outfits. She strictly keeps to black ankle length boots, which compliments her rocker chic look. Her preferred choice of ankle length boots are between combat boots and Chelsea Boots. If you are living in cold countries, you should swear by these. Not only do they keep you super warm, but are extremely stylish and chic without a doubt.  You can pair them with jeans, shorts, leggings, dresses. And do not restrict these to just casual wear, you can wear them with body con dresses too, if you have a good height. I have a lovely pair of ankle length boots from Tory Burch, with gold hardware and I love wearing them in the night with my dresses! It absolutely sums your edgy look up.

Cropped Tops:  Okay no one can lie, the Jenner sisters have amazing figures like the Kardashians, they too have great genes and let’s not forget a good height. And why would they not like to flaunt these attributes? Kylie does exactly that, she wears a lot of cropped tops, mainly sticking to sleeveless ones. She pairs them with high-waist skirts (mostly pencil) or shorts which hide her navel and you can see the top part of her midriff. In my opinion, that is a definitely classy way to wear and flaunt your body with a crop top.

Colour Palette of Clothes:  Kylie is not a girly girl, she doesn’t wear floral dresses or colours like pinks, purples and blues. She sticks to colours like black, white, reds (with hints of black detailing), tans, military greens. If she does choose to wear blues, they are most definitely electric blues that she leans towards. Her look is a mix of classic and edgy!

If you love Kylie’s style as much as I do, then you surely need to get with the above pointers and don’t forget your sunglasses and a statement hand bag, preferably a sling one so it is easy to shop around the city ;). Do tell me your thoughts!
