L.A. Colors Nectarine Lipstick Review

Hello all,

I am an avid lipstick wearer, but I have rarely ventured past my pinks, n*des and occasional reds, but after seeing all the orange lipsticks on IMBB (Raeesa Danish – looking at you :P), I gathered some courage to try out an orange myself. Before splurging on something, I decided to check out how an orange lipstick would look on me. I know the skeptics amongst you are going to say that every lipstick shade varies, but I just wanted to try out something orange 😛 I had earlier used nail polishes from L.A. Colors and found them to be decent. So, I picked up the L.A Colors Lip Color in Nectarine which costs just a dollar (yes, you heard it right) exactly for this purpose. Read on to find out more about this lipstick.

My Experience with L.A. Colors Nectarine Lipstick:

Packaging:  The packaging is pretty simple and fuss-free. It comes in a white-colored case with a transparent cap. The packaging looks cute but it is also slightly flimsy. I am worried that the cap will break if I happen to drop the lipstick. Also, the lipstick doesn’t go in all the way inside the case and you need to be careful while putting the cap or else you will end up smashing the lipstick.

Shade:  Nectarine is a lovely warm orange shade and I love how it looks on me. It is not too bright and provides just the right amount of color on your lips. This shade is not yellow toned and hence does not make you look sallow. This is a kind of shade which all those who are just starting out on orange should try.

Texture, Finish, Pigmentation:  Honestly, I was not expecting much from a lipstick which costs just a dollar. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that this is actually a very good quality lipstick. The lipstick glides effortlessly on the lips and you do not need to tug at it at all. The packaging claims that it is Aloe and Vitamin E enriched and the lipstick indeed feels quite moisturizing. It did not dry out my lips.  The finish is crème with a slight sheen. It is not too glossy or bright.

This lipstick is not the most strongly pigmented lipstick out there, but the pigmentation is good enough to give you a decent coverage in a single swipe. Since I have pigmented lips, I tend to apply at least two swipes. Layering does not make the application patchy or cakey.

The lipstick transfers quite easily on cups and glasses, but it manages to survive light meals or snacking and stays on the lips for around 4-5 hours. It leaves behind a nice stain on the lips. I would consider this as a good staying power for a lipstick which comes that cheap.

L.A. Colors Nectarine Lipstick

To summarize, this is a truly wonderful lipstick – a beautiful shade, good quality and unbeatable price. I had never thought that I would be using a 1 dollar lipstick and recommending it to others. But I guess you need to keep an open mind and you never know when you come across a gem of a product. Some of these brands available in USA like Wet n Wild, e.l.f and L.A. Colors truly carry some value for money products which you should give a try.
