Lacto Calamine Skin Balance Daily Nourishing Lotion Oil Control

Until recently, I was very averse to using Lacto Calamine.  I don’t remember if I had ever tried it, but I have always remembered its stench….oops scent 😛  I was watching “Grey’s Anatomy” a few days ago, and got to know the importance of calamine, and I won’t definitely tell you which episode 😉  That’s when I realized, calamine can be used to soothe burns, allergies, and rashes, etc.  I went to the store and found out this particular version for oil control.  Let’s check it out in detail:

Product Description:

Lacto Calamine 1

Daily nourishing lotion for oil control and maintaining skin vitality with the goodness of kaolin and glycerin.

  • Kaolin contains natural minerals, acts as an exfoliator and helps in dead skin removal.
  • Zinc oxide with antiseptic properties helps protect your skin from acne breakouts and helps reduce dark spots and blemishes.
  • Glycerin helps control excess oil, thus reducing acne, making smooth and clear.

Maintenance of skin pH is essential for glowing healthy skin.  Daily use gives you healthy, glowing, and nourished skin.

Ingredients:

Ingredients Lacto Calamine

Price:

Rs. 80 for 60 ml.

My Take on Lacto Calamine Skin Balance Daily Nourishing Lotion – Oil Control:

You can either love or completely hate Lacto Calamine.  If you can tolerate the strong calamine smell, half the battle is won.  The texture of the Lacto Calamine is thick and its slightly tinted with a pink/peach tint. Though the texture is thick, you can blend it into the skin without much effort.  This acts as a moisturizer working on dry patches.  It does not cause excessive sweating on the face.  The lotion controls oil on the face for a long time.  The lotion does not make the face greasy.

Lacto Calamine 2

Ever since I have started using this, I have had lesser breakouts.  However, it does nothing to lessen acne scars.  The skin’s pH level is 5.5, whereas Lacto Calamine has a pH of 8, which I guess is good for skin because products within the skin’s pH range (usually 5 to 8) are good.  A product with higher pH value (alkaline) are harsh for skin as they destroy the acid mantle making the skin to become dry and lowering resistance to bacterial and microbial attack.

Phew….that’s a lot of gyaan, but I got to know that choosing products with lower pH levels matters and that’s what I am going to do now on, but the problem is how to determine any product’s pH level?

Coming back to the calamine, I would say, it works on soothing minor burns encountered while cooking and allergic rashes.  However, if you go overboard with the lotion, it gives a whitish cast. Though, I am not “enthu” about using it on my face on a daily basis, I would like to keep Lacto Calamine handy with me always.

Lacto Calamine 3

Pros of Lacto Calamine Skin Balance Daily Nourishing Lotion – Oil Control:

  • Takes care of moisturizing the skin.
  • Controls oil for a long time.
  • Does not make the face greasy.
  • Gives a matte effect.
  • Controls acne and break outs.
  • Can be used on rashes, allergic reactions, and burns to soothe the skin.
  • Has a pH of 8 which is closer to the skin’s pH level.

Cons of Lacto Calamine Skin Balance Daily Nourishing Lotion – Oil Control:

  •  Has a strong fragrance, which might be bothersome.
  • Does nothing for acne scars.
  • Does give a whitish cast to the skin.

Would I Repurchase Lacto Calamine Skin Balance Daily Nourishing Lotion – Oil Control?
