My skin has turned extremely dry nowadays. I am sure most of you would be experiencing this problem because of the chilly weather. Though my skin has turned dry, I am still experiencing acne and break outs. I was looking for a good moisturiser which will prevent break outs and acne too and I saw Lactocalamine Daily Nourishing lotion- hydration online. It is supposed to be for normal and dry skin. It has been launched recently along with its other variant which is meant for oily skin. Since Lactocalamine is known for its antiallergic and antiacne properties, I thought I should give it a try. I have the basic variant of Lactocalamine lotion but I never used it regularly, so I can’t compare these two.

My Experience with Lactocalamine Skin Balance Daily Nourishing Lotion

This lotion has thick consistency and is of peach color like the basic Lactocalamine lotion. It has medicinal smell which I absolutely hate. It comes in a simple packaging with a screw cap. The packaging is travel friendly and is spill proof. It doesn’t spill when it is in my bag or vanity.

I apply it every night after washing and toning my face. It spreads very evenly and easily on my face. It takes some time to absorb and needs to be massaged for atleast 1-2 minutes. One gets an idea about the moisturising power by the way it spreads on the face and how easily it gets massaged. It gives an immediate moisturisation effect to dry, stretchy feeling. Its moisturisation effect stays for entire might on my face. Whenever I apply it in the day, my face remains hydrated for 7-8 hours. The skin of my face feels soft and supple the entire day.

I can see an improvement in my skin tone and texture. I love how soft my skin feels and the way my skin glows. It doesn’t control the oiliness of my skin. I can see oil on my face on T-Zone after about 4-5 hours but I am okay with it because my skin is exceptionally dry nowadays and hydration matters to me much more than the oiliness later nowadays. Because of its poor oil controlling power, I wouldn’t recommend it to oily skinned beauties. I myself won’t be able to use it after the winters are over because my skin is naturally oily.

I haven’t experienced single acne or break out after starting this moisturiser. Thought it has prevented formation of new acne, it didn’t lighten my previous acne scars. I prefer my moisturizers to contain SPF and it doesn’t have any. Whenever I experience any irritation, itching, rashes or redness on my face, I prefer to apply this lotion because it gives me instant relief. Moreover, it claims to contain Kaolin and Glycerin too.

Pros of Lactocalamine Skin Balance Daily Nourishing Lotion

• Prevents acne or breakout.
• Gives instant relief from any irritation or allergy.
• My skin feels soft and supple.
• Gives glow to my skin.
• Contains kaolin and glycerin.
• Spreads very smoothly and easily on my face.
• Spillproof packaging.

Cons of Lactocalamine Skin Balance Daily Nourishing Lotion

• Not recommended to oily skinned beauties because of the poor oil controlling property.
• No spf.
• Doesn’t lighten acne scars.

Imbb rating: 4.25/5

Will I repurchase/ do I recommend?
Yes. Absolutely. It is an excellent moisturiser for winters because of the way it keeps my skin hydrated and prevents any acne. It is highly recommended it to dry skinned ladies, but oily skinned ladies should stay away from this and try it’s other variant which is meant for oil control.

Have a nice day. 🙂

  1. applying it on night? i heard calamine lotions contain parafiin and they clog pores. But since you have got acne-prone skin, as you mentioned, I gotta trust you and go for it 🙂 I am planning to try white glow micro emulsion for the red acne spots. hope it helps!

    1. i have lotus whiteglow microemulsion gel tarannum. it is a very good moisturiser but it did nothing for my acne scars 🙁
thanks for letting me know that calamine lotion contains paraffin. i will definitely check all this out. nevertheless, it didnt break me. 🙂

    1. u r most welcome surabhi.. u can definitely give it a try.. hope u like it. if you have oily skin, you can check out its variant for oily skin. 🙂

    1. i hate its smell jomol di.. u know even my doggie turned his head to the other side when i made him sniff the bottle 😛 but you are right, if one get past the smell, its worth liking.:)

  2. hi, just noticed that castor oil is mentioned in the ingredients.its something that causes thick hair growth and is popularly used (in kerala, atleast) to improve hair growth. I would recommend that you use it on the face with caution because facial hair is not a problem any girl should have to deal with :/
