I had reviewed the shade “Plum Feather” earlier in the day from the Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color range. Now, this is another shade in red, something we all drool over. I like how Lakme is keeping up with the matte lip cream craze and yet staying true to the “weightless mousse” formula that they like to tag their products with. “Crimson Silk” is a lovely bright red color, perfect for the wedding season. As for red lovers like me, we don’t need an excuse to dress our lips with this beautiful color, right ?:P

My Experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Crimson Silk Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color:
“Crimson Silk” is one of the two reds in the Lip and Cheek Color collection. The other shade is called “Burgundy Lush,” which is more of a brown-toned red. I feel true red suits me fine, so I stick to them. This is a pure bright bridal kind of red. It has orange tones to it and will be apt for warm skin tones for sure.
Coming to the texture, this one seemed a little dry to apply, mousse-like for sure, but dry. It felt like my product has dried in the tube, which is not possible since this is a recent launch. The product is thick and glides very well, it coats the lips and feels plush. After a few hours, it gets really matte. I would say it is smudge-resistant, but initially, it does feel like it is moist and will smudge easily. As the day passes, the product seems a bit drying, and looks more matte. It hardly transfers and even survives many meals. I can wear it at at stretch of 6 hours without touch ups! I know, insane!
As a blush, it is very pigmented. For a red, I will skip wearing it on my cheeks, but in case you do, just dab your lips after application and use the same finger to dab your cheeks with it. The pigment is very strong and stains well. It lasts easily for 4 hours as a blush too. Dry lips will crave for moisture when you wear this product for longer hours. You will need a creamy or oil-based remover to take it off the lips. It will stain your lips by the end of wear time.
Don’t you just love the wand, with that spot for collecting some product in? I am in love with the color, the lasting power and the wand, but the tube is super boring, it feels like a tester. The drying part of this color, as the day progresses can be a bummer for dry and flaky lips.

Cons of Lakme 9 to 5 Crimson Silk Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color:
- Could be drying, at least this shade was drying throughout the day.
- Boring tube tester like packaging.
- Not matte for the initial application, but gets matte after an hour.
- Stains.
Would I Recommend/Repurchase Lakme 9 to 5 Crimson Silk Weightless Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color?
Yes, I will. Do try the shade at the counter and see if they are drying for you. Otherwise, a definite yes from my side.
